anytime an exhaust sounds like that, its worth the upgrade. I would say go for it. Is there any performance benefit?

For sure. Lighter tins, and more free flowing exhaust. Not sure what that would translate into specific HP numbers though.

Added bonus: flames shooting out the rear. - :)

Well, maybe if it's PChop's car, you'd get blue.

Vik, make sure you do your research on these exhausts for the G. From what I've read, a good number of well known exhausts actually rob the G of horsepower. SP and Larini are two that are highly regarded for not causing loss and obvious weight advantages.

The Tubi sounds great...but do your digilence as I know you will.

Good point, and always the voice of reason. For a couple of these, horsepower at the low-end is sacrificed but made up at the other end of the torque curve.

But as noted, I am working through all these issues.

just take out the exhaust all together. That will sound awesome. Straight pipes or very short pipes.

I had the Larini exhaust on my 2004 Gallardo. Sound was amazing (ask Todd G about it) and the flames were an extra bonus as well.

I had a Fabspeed 'Quiet' exhaust on my GT 2. There were noticeable performance gains relating to the turbo set-up; the car went into boost more quickly and smoothly, and was less binary. (If you've ever driven the turbo Porsches, you'll appreciate how jeckyl and hyde they are, something that seems fun, but makes the predictable application of power very difficult- you have to keep the car in 'boost' all the time).
Not sure these systems would do as much for a normally aspirated engine, but I suspect that alot of their desirability has to do with the sound.
Frankly, I found the Fabspeed to be annoying for a couple of reasons: first, even though it was the quieter model, it was quite loud, and emitted a constant drone that just got louder with the application of the 'loud' pedal. In the cockpit, it eventually became overwhelming. (Cool sounding to others, you bet, something i'd want to live with if I were driving the car any length of time- nope).
Second, it is a aural red flag- everybody, including the *****y residential homeowner, and the cops, could literally hear you coming from quite a distance. And, if stealth is the game, I'm just not sure you want to draw that kind of attention to yourself, particularly in advance of your arrival.
For sheer aural thrills, have you heard a BB/LM when it cranks up? It is truly frightening. A deep bark, combined with a shriek, at 100 plus db. And that's just when you are warming it up.

Vik you should have been down here for the 2nd FOCNJ F1 viewing. A white Gallardo spyder showed up and I don't think it was stock cause that sucker was pretty damn loud!
