Sound System - MP3 & DAB

Last year Ton Visser, the late Jens Heller and I were discussing sound systems for our cars - see HERE! OK - I know that most of us hardly ever switch on our car stereos as we prefer the sound of our engines and hot Tubi's (so let's not go down that route of discussion again!) but I still want to update the old piece of rubbish in my car is it looks really ugly and out of place.

Last year we were all keen on getting MP3 players, and I don't think that has changed. However, last year Hard Disk Drive (HDD) units were not readily available, but that's all changed since then. Also Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) has taken off over the past twelve months, but I have not yet seen a car radio that received DAB. Do any of you guys know of a car unit that receives DAB and has a HDD?

I personally want something understated, without all the flashing lights and graphics. A simple, clean interface with two knobs like a traditional "old fashioned" car radio would be perfect. That is, I don't want something that looks like a teenage disco, just a quality unit with HDD and DAB!

This HDD unit looks damn nice, but it has no DAB. 10gb may also be too small for my CD collection

So gents...any suggestion? Also, what speakers should I be looking at for the front doors? I will keep the car standard and not add additional speakers, sub-woofers and all that nonsense.

I did the same when I rebuilt my Alfa Spider, by the way. I removed the radio/tape and speakers, and have the dashboard hole covered with a nice Alfa stainless steel cover.
