I'm refurbishing the ignition system on my 308 QV and I noticed that the little carbon button in the center of one of my distributor caps that contacts the rotor has basically be eroded flat (normally a domed shape). The cap itself looks fine. Does anyone have a source for the little spring and carbon pin/button?

When I rebuilt my engine, one of them was missing completely - it still ran, though. Must have been close enough to arc across.

The car runs fine, and I notice no difference under power, but there is a slight occasional miss at idle that has been annoying me. So I'm replacing the plugs, extenders, and wires. It was when pulling the caps to install the new wires that I noticed the issue with one cap. I'm betting thats the reason for the miss. Looking more closely I can see that the other cap is newer and was likely replaced by the PO. I may just replace the whole cap and be done with it.

Thanks got the lead on AW Imports. I'll check it out.

I managed to lose (mis-lay) one of mine once. I took the cap down the local motor factors & found an exact match in a cap from some kind of Citroen econobox. A cheap fix happily. Needless to say once I had put the car back together I found the original on the bench...

If that carbon stift is long enough, make that dome shape with very fine sandpaper and enlarge that spring by pulling it a bit. Should have enough force to presse it against the rotor. Rotor contact should also be smooth with fine sandpaper.
