Does anyone have a source (besides Ferrari) for 8 x 1.25 mm studs? I replaced the clutch release bearing seals on my 512TR yesterday and noticed that many of the 9 bellhousing studs had nasty threads. I re-threaded all before reassembly, but a few are marginal and I want to replace them. I can't seem to find any long enough on a Google search. I may have to buy bolts and cut/thread the end. The studs are 70, 76 and 130 mm in length.
    Thanks.

McMaster-Carr has black oxide steel studs that are 65mm, 80mm, 140mm long all in M8 threads.. Typically for about three bucks each. If you order them today you will likely have them by tomorrow.

Not exactly what you want, but a heck of lot easier to trim one of these off as opposed to trying cobble up something from existing bolts. Plus they are black oxide coated so there will be less corrosion than using plain steel studs.

Interestingly, 2 of the 3 sizes are available from Ferrari for a buck and change each. The third, well, for some reason Ferrari want $40 each. Go figure!

    Many thanks for the replies.

The M8 x 1.25 studs in 70 and 76 mm (total length) are available from Ricambi (Ferrari) for a very UN-Ferrari-like price of $1.48 each or so, while the 130 mm little devils cost over $40 EACH!
McMaster-Carr has the 70 mm for $0.99 in black oxide (sweet), and an 80 mm stud for $2.48. They also have a 140 mm stud for $3.16. I ordered 20 total from McMaster (always good to have a few extras for friends).

The smaller studs are a perfect match and size will be important on the bottom studs where getting a nut on in a tight space is a pain. The other, longer studs hold on the bracket for the wiring harness and a few extra mm in total length is no problemo since there is no interference.

Anyway, the old girl is buttoned up and back on the road, the new clutch release bearing seals feel smooth as butter and best of all - 9,200 miles since the DIY major service/valve adjustment/hose replacement/clutch upgrade and no leaks (not a drop).

Thanks again for the help. FChat always comes through.
