I've checked archives with no result so - does anyone have a source for the "optional" space saving spare tire and wheel for a 1998 355?

I carry two cans of tire inflate, etc., etc., but would at least like to explore the option of having a spare...

    I appreciate your comments...

Silly question but have you tried Ferrari? Also have you ever seen one installed? There is a complete kit that includes mounting brackets etc. Pretty much takes up the trunk space.

The problem with the spare is that you have to leave the road wheel on the side of the road! There is no place to put a flat in the F355, yes, a spare will get you home, but you will have to go back with your "normal" car and hope the rim is still there....

It will fit in the passenger seat, or you can carry a rope and tie it to the roof.

well I guess, if you do not have a passenger, tie it to the roof? Ouch!

Or, if it were me, leave the passenger take the wheel and come back for the passenger.

I own a 95 F355 Spider and was in your situation. Dealer pricing for the spare and mounting hardware was over $1K and is mounted on the same side as the CD changer, so I was able to find a new spare on E-bay and my mechanic modified a TR jack so it would work on the F355 (The TR jack does not have enough clearance and hits the undertray wing at the rear). The spare lies flat in the trunk inside a "homemade/custom" sponge/foam tub and does not move around. If you live in southern California I can refer you to my mechanic.

B.T.W: I have a large heavy duty bag which can cover a rear wheel, so that I can put a wheel in the passenger seat.
