Looking for any recommendations for a re-chrome expert in the Miami, South Florida area. Any direction appreciated. BHW
There's a shop on Ali Baba in Opa Locka that did some good work for me a few years ago. I can't remember the name, but how many plating shops could there be in Opa Locka? Also check with Luc. He may know a shop.
If all else fails and you have the luxury of time, these guys did a great job on my F430's factory wheels. Paramount Wheels - Quality Chrome Plating for Automobile & Motorcycle wheels and accessories Image Unavailable, Please Login
The problem I seem to be running into is that there are less and less people re-chroming wheels in the SoFla area. And, for the few that are, I am being warned that they'll take your money and do **** work on them, then you're stuck. All sorts of perfectly understandable reasons why but if I were to send the wheels out to Cali or up to Pennsylvania, the cost involved with shipping and the $400 or $500/ea that they're now charging to re-chrome a wheel, I can get a set of new wheels! Anyway, thanks for the tips. Will follow up with each and see if anything pans out. BHW
Give the plating shops something small to see how they do. Go to a junk yard, get something with patina, and pay to have that done. A lot of extra work, but better than having your wheels ruined.
I paid $300/wheel and that included round trip shipping from NW Florida to California. The only extra expense I had was for the initial packaging since I did not have any boxes suited for wheels.
Two places: Space Coast in Melbourne and Melimar in Davie. I found Melimar a pleasure to deal with, Richard and the owner, who was very knowledgable. Luc, master painter, referred me to them.
