Verstappen and Perez’s Honda engines irreparable after crash damage By: Luke Smith Co-author: Ronald Vording Aug 26, 2021, 12:01 PM Honda has confirmed that Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have lost their second Formula 1 engines of the season due to recent crash damage, making future grid drops likely. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said after the race in Hungary that it looked like Perez's engine was too damaged to be used again, saying: "Initial reports are it will no longer be in service." Honda confirmed this news on Thursday ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, as well as revealing that Verstappen's second engine from Silverstone was also beyond repair. Perez is therefore set to move onto his third and final engine of the season ahead of this weekend at Spa. With both drivers now onto their final engine, it means that penalties look likely for both Red Bull drivers entering the second half of the season, with a possible 12 races remaining in the 2021 campaign. Asked by Autosport after the race in Hungary if there was any hope of seeing out the season without a fourth engine for either driver, Horner said there was "very little". https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/verstappen-and-perezs-honda-engines-irreparable-after-crash-damage/6653913/
There's just too much leverage to be gained and I believe something has to change. You take out your rival, cause 1 million in damage that comes out your rival's cap, you get to work on and fix your damaged car during the red flag you caused, and you get the advantage of causing your rival grid penalties which further advance your chances of winning the championships. Oh but you get a 10 sec penalty. Something's wrong here. I don't care who the team or driver is. It needs to change.
None of this is new. Its been part of racing for many years. The teams were quite happy with a cost cap. No sympathy for any.
He soooooo wishes he was walking into the Grammy Awards instead of the paddock at Spa. Just craving the adulation of his teeny bopper fans.
I think he was shocked and in disbelief to be so tired after that last race. He was probably embarrassed and couldn’t reconcile that maybe his fitness is wanting and that he has to actually race for a change, so panicked and used the long Covid excuse.
This doesn't bode well for RedBull for the rest of the season.....grid spot penalties will play into Mercedes hand and it LOOKS like #8 for Lewis. Baku, Silverstone & Hungary were not Redbulls fault...it's unfortunate since they had a good chance against Mercedes. Ferrari will.also see grid spot penalties looming as well.....so McLaren will most likely take 3rd in the WCC rankings.

F1 is full of mis-fortune. Timely installation to minimize impact is all they can do with picking the best races for new PU I think.
Damned, what an idiot. I dream of F1 without this moron. Put him on a yacht, put him on an isle, put him on a mission to Mars. As long he's out of sight. Let's get back to fair motorsports.
You can call Hammy a lot of things but idiot wouldn't be one of them. He knows exactly what he's doing. His fashion statements are probably carefully crafted and prepared by the likes of advisors at Hilfiger or whomever sponsors him a the time. Big 'effing deal. Regarding his torpedoing of Max at Silverstone, that wasn't fair. Sure he served a penalty but it was woefully inadequate. If should have resulted in a disqualification and a race ban. Anyway, feel free to complain about Hammy all you want. He'll be around as long as he wants.
I don't know about Spa, but I am actually only 100 miles to the South of it, in North-East France, close to Luxembourg and it is cold indeed for an end of Summer. Had to put an additional cloth yesterday, so I guess the mild temperature will have an impact on the tyres, and the hierarchy between cars; not to mention the rain, of course... Rgds

Another bad crash at Eau Rouge, in Formula W this time, thankfully it seems no serious injuries but two women are in hospital... https://www.motorsport.com/w-series/news/w-series-drivers-agren-and-visser-transferred-to-hospital-after-spa-crash/6654826/ Scary to watch...hopefully nothing else there this weekend.
