Are there any experts on Spa out there who know the Spa circuit and F1 day arrangements? I am attending for the first time and I was wondering if any of you could help me with some info. Where is the best place to buy well priced tickets? If we sit in the Silver section(rather than grandstands) where is the best place to be on the circiut and what does one do for seating etc? Does one take one's own folding chairs for example as I assume there is no seating in any of the silver sections. Any other info would be also appreciated.

Not an expert but have been there many times. The best priced tickets are those purchased well in advance (we bought our for this year as soon as we got home last year). We bought from http://www.belgium-grandprix.be/ and we've also purchased form www.gpticketshop.com - gpticketshop is only taking cc orders right now due to time between now and race and they do add 5% to the cost of the tickets. At this time, they are showing Silver 5 sold out. The Silver and Gold sections are grandstands with numbered assigned seats. The Bronze areas are those that if you get there very early you might get lucky and find a place to put your chair and watch the race along the fence.. We've been in Silver 8 (***nes) in the past and after walking the circuit and looking at all options for seating, we've opted for Silver 6 (Pouhon). From the grandstand in Silver 6 you can see them coming out of Rivage into Pouhon and into and out of ***nes - additionally there's a tv directly opposite the stands.

Are you located in Europe or coming from the US or elsewhere? We go into Brussels, rent a car and drive to the circuit and stay in Bastogne. If you are interested in the provisional sked, just PM us and I'll scan it for you. Friday and Saturday will be full days with GP2, Porsche Supercup, Mini Cooper Challenge and F1 events.

Hope you enjoy the race - don't forget your rain poncho!

Thanks for the info and offer of the schedules but we will only be around for the race. I actually made a mistake and meant the bronze areas not the silver as I am going with a few other people who cant justify the cost of silver. Therefore I needed to know the best place to stand/sit in bronze. Any ideas are appreciated. I have been studying arial photos of the track but it is not easy to decify exactly where the bronze areas are and what sort of view one would get.

You'll get a good view pretty much anywhere at Spa, but don't arrive too late as it's a lengthy circuit and will take you a little while to walk to wherever you choose to watch from. Besides, the earlier you arrive, the better your chance of getting a good viewing spot. If you look at the circuit map on the ticket site Carol mentioned (www.belgium-grandprix.be - and click on Plan) you can see the Bronze areas marked. I would recommend either end of the main straight (Gold 2 end or Silver 5 end), on the high bank after the hairpin (after Silver 3) or above the final chicance before the pits (near Gold 7). You can take folding chairs etc., but as I said, it will be a bit of a walk so take that into account. Also, echoing Carol, make sure everything you take is waterproof!!!!

    Sunday sked:

    09:40 GP2 - pitlane open
    09:50 GP2 - pitlane closed
    10:00 - 10:45 GP2 - race (12 laps)
    11:25 - 12:00 Porsche Supercup - race (10 laps)
12:30 Formula One - drivers track parade
    12:45 - 13:15 Formula One - starting grid presentation
13:30 Formula One - pit lane open
13:45 Formula One - pit lane closed
13:46 Formula One - national anthem
14:00 Formula One - grand prix (44 laps)

The key word for race day is EARLY.

It's one of the best venues for F1 racing - just to hear the sounds of the engines in the forest admist the fog is something not to be found any other place. Wear comfortable shoes too - it's faster most of the time to walk back to your vehicle after the race in lieu of attempting to get on a bus to your parking area.
