Spa Francorchamps and Nordscheife Ring

Just now returning from a fantasy week in Belgium and Germany to track the Spa for three days (Belgium) and one day at the Nordschleife Ring in Germany.

These were limited participant HPDE events organized by Chin for advanced drivers, in conjunction with RSR Racing in Nurburgring.

A total of 25 lucky participants had the experience of a lifetime, distinguishing themselves on two different venues without incident.

I will post more pics later, but if you ever get the opportunity to run these iconic track, absolutely take the opportunity!

I leased a GT4 which was very well behaved and balanced, I can now see why they’re so popular at HPDE events.

Both tracks have very significant elevation changes, the Spa is reminiscent of Watkins Glen with similar flow. but on steroids. IMO it can be learned (basics, anyway) in two days.

We did a track walk on Day 2. Spectacular!

The Ring is 13+ miles of blind turns and sweepers. I had an instructor to guide me through course until he cut me loose later in the day. The regulars (“white plates”) were blazing my fast, adding some pressure to let them by on the narrow tarmac.
