Pretty cool stuff...
We are now one step closer to warp drive. Imagine how fast F-cars will be with matter/anti-matter reaction drives, powering massive warp-coils that are able to bust through the fabric of space because of the massive amount of energy being emitted via the m/a-m reaction diverted to the coils. Weight will no longer be an issue with F-cars, as the rip in the space-time continuum will make mass a non-factor. Finally! No more belts! Even good 'ol Enzo would approve of chain driven cams if the weight didn't matter. Say hello to warp engine, good-bye to expensive 15,000 miles tune-ups!
I think to achieve that speed, you'll still need belts rather than chains. So, don't expect the expensive 15Ks to go away. Afterall, if they did go to chains, it would be called a Maserati, not a Ferrari. =)
Along those lines: http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/generalscience/faster_than_c_000719.html Scientists Claim To Break Speed-of-Light Barrier Taught in physics classes the world over, Albert Einsteins theory of special relativity holds that no object or information can move faster than the speed of light in a vacuum, or 186,000 miles (300,000 kilometers) per second. But NECs Lijun Wang says he created an experiment in which a light beam raced through a gas-filled chamber so quickly, it exceeded the speed of light by a factor of 300. Whats more, the light pulse appears to have left the confines of the chamber before it even entered a seemingly impossible occurrence according to theories of causality, which predict that causes must always precede their effects.
