[ATTACH] FANTASTIC
As it was coming back down, I remarked to my wife "either way, this is going to be spectacular." That was freaking magic. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Woke my son up to watch live. He’s never seen me so excited. SCIENCE FOR THE WIN! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nothing short of I N S A N E !!! >>> .... was sure the bottom of the booster was going to hit the tower BOOSTER CATCH . LAUNCH .
Whole thing with commentary JUMP to 2:30:00 for BOOSTER return/catch ... cool ground level angle https://www.youtube.com/live/pIKI7y3DTXk?si=m-0SGgz3hY5NjOpE .
How the hell they managed to catch that massive booster on the FIRST try is INCREDIBLE!!! . ..... actually tho, I was kind of looking forward to a spectacular failure including twisted steel and explosions! .
YT channel I watched said the previous booster landing in the ocean was 5 MILLIMETERS from dead nuts bullseye. No idea how that could be measured in open water but apparently it was close enough to predictions to give the green light to today’s catch. absolutely amazing
2 informative vids on 'How to Catch a Super Heavy Booster' > crank up the playback speed Everyday Astronaut . Ryan Hansen Space (incredible graphic renderings) .

What happened to the second stage? Is this the test flight that the FAA has been holding up for questionable (political) reasons?
Starship made a successful, soft, water landing (then tipping over and exploding) in the Indian Ocean. https://www.space.com/spacex-starship-flight-5-launch-super-heavy-booster-catch-success-video Image Unavailable, Please Login .
Calif Coastal Commission has denied Elon anymore Santa Barbara launches due to his political positions.
Can a minor State commission block a National Defense/Military program? Seems like the "commission" could shut down Naval Base San Diego because the Six Fleet ships cause hydrocarbon pollution of California waters.
He's a genius (SpaceX, Tesla, Starlink) and a fool (Twitter (huge fool), involvement in politics, ....) BOTH are true. .......... and I'm not an idiot. .
Love everything about the Starship development. Incredible to watch. This with his new robotaxi stuff at Tesla is literally the most exciting new development projects in the world right now. Still not sure “why” we need humans on the moon or mars? But the ability to do so is definitely inspiring. I’m sure at some point it will become a military contract…… imagine a starship landing in a war zone full of Tesla Optimus Robots armed with machine guns….. like a real life Ironman army shot down from space on demand.
That thing being fired over and over again every hour still just seems more and more wild. I saw a few more issues than just the nozzles being warped.... looked like the inside of the tank was on fire at one point as it was landing? Also, I haven't seen any video of the Starship (top part) result? Was that a successful splashdown after re-entry?
Full speed crash with no re-light and attempted splash down? I thought was strange that there was no video shared of that
The ship itself survived reentry without damage, hovered above the ocean as planned, and then was dumped and destroyed. The video is on SpaceX Twitter feed
