"In sport you almost always have to work together or else you almost always end up losing", Jaime Lissavetzky, Spain's minister of Sport continued to say in a Madrid press conference today and quoted by Autosport.

"As the saying goes vengence is a dish served cold and as Raikkonen is an 'Iceman' he got his revenge", stated Mr. Lissavetzky.

Well put Jaime, we all got our revenge.

Question, doesn't Mercedes realize the bad press they are receiving by virtue of owning a piece of both McLaren and Ron Dennis' rectal cavity?

I'm sure they do. Problem is, that the relationship is very complex because of the McLaren Mercs being produced at the Paragon. Merc can't just pull out. But I am surprised they still leave RD in charge.

Meanwhile Haug continues to ignore reality.

the whole relationship is very complicated and not just because of the Mclaren Merc road cars.

"On 3 January 2000 Daimler Chrysler (now Daimler AG) exercised an option to buy 40% of the then TAG McLaren Group. Since 1995 Daimler has supplied British-built Ilmor engines to the McLaren Formula One team under the Mercedes-Benz brand. Ron Dennis and the Techniques d'Avant Garde Group (owned by Mansour Ojjeh) each retained a 30% share. In November 2003 TAG McLaren Group announced it was to change its name to McLaren Group, and its associated companies would also drop the TAG name.

In August 2006 it was reported that DaimlerChrysler was considering acquiring the 60% held by Dennis and Ojjeh. However in January 2007 it was announced that Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, wholly owned by the kingdom of Bahrain, intended to purchase 15% from both Dennis and Ojjeh. The shareholding is thus Daimler 40%, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company 30%, Ron Dennis 15% and Mansour Ojjeh 15%"

When you read the FIA transcripts it sounded to me, that he was actually a lot more involved and interested in getting to know Ferrari's secrets than Alonso. Might be because of his role as a test driver or because he is a scumbag. I go with scumbag.

Hey everyone knows all press is good press. Besides Mercedes are very detached from the Mclaren team, Merc just supplies the engines.

Not detached from the point of view of most Americans following F1. I won't buy a Mercedes for this reason. Besides, Audi is a better car.

Well, technically that *was* teamwork between Alonso, deLaRosa, and Coughlin -- dirty rotten cheating teamwork, but teamwork.

About the only teamwork they managed all year. They couldn't even manage to cover-up / lie like a team:

DeLaRosa insisted that they went looking for technical details about the Ferrari, but couldn't use them, because the Ferrari was too different. (The Ferrari is a race car, the McLaren is, what?, a hovercraft? (or a crane-pod amusement park ride?))

Alonso asked for information, but wasn't listening to the answers.

Ron insisted that they weren't carrying out a spying operation, but the spying operation was to catch those lousy cheatin' Ferrari guys at treacherously building a good car.

Lewis never even heard of Ferrari, FIA, or F1, and wasn't quite sure who built his own race car.

Coughlin's boss felt it was entirely appropriate to fund Coughlin's trip to the George Smiley Safe House for a meeting to tell Steppney that they didn't want any more information.

    Teamwork. Riight.

hmm, i dunno.......not too many real F1 fans in the US, I doubt that anything that goes on in F1 will affect their US sales significantly......besides 99% of Merc drivers I see on the road are female, and I'm willing to bet they're more worried about how cute they looks in their Benz, than who won sundays GP.... and you're wrong, BMW is a better car, Audi's just have nicer interiors:)

I never miss an opportunity to bash Mercedes. They have lost their 'good car' image. I do think the Mclaren team was divided and could of won had they worked together. I forgot to add that I will never buy a Mercedes again. They can kiss it.
