Hi, i been getting lots of spam mails, I was just wondering, how this guys actually make money from spamming? Is it effective? I sure think, its a pain.
There was a guy in Virginia or North Carolina who just got about 9 years for sending spam mail. His problem was he faked the return address so you couldn't get back to him or know where the email really came from. The court records said he was grossing $750,000 - $1,000,000 per MONTH from his operation. Which means there a whole lot of fnckwits out there clicking on that herbal viagra link.
wow, thats a fair bit of money, so, i guess.. this guys hit on the herbal url, and the no's of click on the website, entitles him to a commision. Dont this sites, get close down? I dont think, and reputable company would want to do their payment gateway.I might be wrong.
Spammers make a fortune - yes, people really do click those links. The problem is, to do it legitimately means that people ultimately find out who you are and harass the hell out of you. Death threats, threatening phone calls, destruction to personal property is not uncommon for spammers. Its not really hard to imagine why it works... they play on peoples inhibitions and emotions. If someone can pick up viagra or cialis without having to tell anyone in the "real world" that they're doing it, a lot of times they'll check out the links in their spam. It also never ceases to amaze me how many advertisements people click on on websites. A friend of mine with a pretty decent size site pulls in about 500 bucks a day from the Google ads running on his site! People do click things...
There are a couple of ways: Legal and Illegal Legal: 1. Entrepreneur builds or buys a "crawler" that will pull text from websites in the format of [email protected] which are assumed to be valid email addresses and sells those email addresses as non-opt in email addresses to marketeers like "Captain Herbal ViagraMan" or whatever for $.10-$.25 per email address. Perfect example of making money while you sleep because after the implementation, it's 100% automated and you resell the same lists over and over. Lotsa money, minimal effort. Semi-scandalous, though not illegal. 2. Entrepreneur starts and email newsletter for people who enjoy "Yams" or "Woodworking" or "Business Opportunities/MLM" and people subscribe to the newsletter to gain valuable "tips" but by doing so agree to an arduous privacy agreement which allows the newsletter distributor to resell their names and email addresses or other contact information. This is nothing new, banks have been doing this with credit card holders for years. That is why you get "junk mail" in the US mail. Also for those sign-ups for "Win a free jetski" etc, etc. Again, semi-scandalous, not illegal. Illegal: 1. Installing a "re-direct" program (java or .exe) on your machine that directs you to porn, gambling, erectile disfunction sites. 2. Misappropriating a client list (emails) to sell anything (ala Viagra and AOL customer scandal) 3. Emailing ANYONE without permission for ANY REASON in certain states. 4. This list goes on and on and will only get more strict with new privacy laws. --- Essentially the only way to make "honest" and "legal" money in SPAM is to actually collect the email addresses through development and deployment of an email harvesting program (crawler) or content that is relevant to the eventual SPAM-EE. Bottom line: Sell email addresses, don't email people and you'll be fine. People will hate you, including me... but you'll be fine. Nick
Hi Guys Thanks for taking time, and explaining the laws and the loopholes, This is pretty interesting, On a second note, dont this sites get blocked, and the company or servers sending this mails, out.. would get PINGED. If I am not mistaken, I might know a Fellow 360 driver who is in this business, His operations is from Romania. He is from UK. He was explaining how it works, but he did not tell me about the payment part.
