Didn't get to see more than 6 laps today because of church and mother's day, but VERY happy for my boy Rubens Barrichello who started 17th and ended up 9th. Hell of a drive by my boy. We are going to split our bet I think. He will likely have Hulkenburg by the short hairs soon, but unless he really does well in a few races he probably won't finish 8th in the standings... MB
congrats. Now you can afford gas for the Fiat It may make for a poor show and be bad for business but its the nuances of strategy and style that make it good sport. In a world of ADD and instant gratification I'm fighting against the tide but we fuddy-duddies have a right to our opinions too. Now get off my lawn and go home
+1 I forget where we discussed it now, but the jockeys have already asked for "heats" in quali next week - I (along with many others) "voted" that they STFU and drive...... However, Monaco could get *really* gnarly, and I'm not sure that's a good thing (?) Cheers, Ian
A system of pre-qualifying for teams who have not scored points in the last 5, 10, 15 races? BTW It was interesting to see that with Williams the Cossie can be competitive.
'Grats to Webber for a great weekend and thanks to MS for keeping Button from earning more points! Forza Ferrari
How bout we let em run in GP2 at the back of the grid. Maybe they could pass a car or two. Alternatively backmarkers should be required to fly white flags of surrender on their cars and be disqualified if they touch the racing line. A boring race indeed. The RBs sucessfully blocked FA and LH at the start. Then it was pretty much a mechanical failure parade. Looks like MS has been successful in getting Brawn to provide a car his teammate cannot drive well. FA continues to impress. He knows when to go for it and knows when to bide his time. LH is still in the learning stage as JB beats him again. Let us hope Monaco will not be like watching paint dry.
+1 True dat Don't like it? - go watch the taxicabs. +1 It used to be that way in "the good old days".... Maybe let the newbies out for 20 minutes to do their thing ahead of Q1? +1 Nothing wrong with that lump. Cheers, Ian
Moving on..... Did anyone else notice the RBR pit wall just into lap 47? I'm surprised Matchett didn't see it - *All* of their monitors were showing "No signal" Didn't see anyone else's, but they were definitely "dataless"...... [Must still be running Windoze Vista ] Cheers, Ian
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYOz8X--AXk If you watch that video, you can see that at 0:11 some debris hits LH's car. Whitmarsh is also saying that it wasn't an overused tyre. Either way, Forza Ferrari!
I'm reading it was a tire failure-his style is hard on tires and the mc chassis supposedly is hard on the rears, but here he had a left front tire go. Puncture? Not a Hammy fan, but you have too feel bad for him.....
Button was hoping for rain also...... He had the best car last year and he brought home a WDC....don't think it will happen this year unless Red Bull has a meltdown...even the fossil beat him today...
Yup. No disagreement. As I said, I was hugely disappointed Button forgot to pack his balls for this race. He complained after the race about MS' move, but c'mon. Grow a pair and go wheel to wheel or shut up.
the only team that had livetiming was Mclaren because they have their own backup system...it was a ~ 5 minute problem for the rest
I've been watching F1 for a long long time. I can't recall any time where a driver "not managing his tires" has led to a failure. The tires go off. They get bald. They get slippery. They don't spontaneously burst putting you into the wall. Hamilton's problem was just an unlucky tire failure. Short of not hitting debris that they see on track and not coming into contact with others, there is very little a driver can do to prevent tire failures.
wait...what? ''Mr charlie, Mr Charlie! Me and Michael where playing scalextric and he BEAT me! It's not FAIR!'' He just went a big notch down in my book. He was fairly high up....
He is still leading the WDC because he didn't take that chance, I agree it is not good entertainment but ...he is no Hamilton so no need to risk driving like him. The pit stop screwed his race up I think, can't remember what happened now though.
Or, put another way.... Nico has ceased being successful in getting Brawn to provide a car his teammate cannot drive well. It's curious to see the bias of some cloud their views... not saying you Phil, but people in general. The car is one way and MS struggles. The car is another way and Nico struggles. People will not see this as a back and forth type thing where you win some and you lose some, but rather will see this as the utter bastard MS shamefully going to MB and forcing them to build a car suited to him, simply to benefit himself at the expense of his teammate. Frankly, that's dumb. Nico said what's better for MS is better for him. And the car does seem better... and MS is doing better with it. But, some have polarizing glasses on and only see bad in anything that involves MS. Such is life.
great post Mike. Especially this line: But, some have polarizing glasses on and only see bad in anything that involves MS.
Very interesting, thanks for that. Mind me asking your source? It appeared to me that they were completely dead - No comms with Charlie or the jockeys - At least from the wall? Anyone know what killed 'em all? (apart from Mclaren it seems....) Cheers, Ian
Glad I didn't wake up early to watch this..the race was ZZzz just as I was from 7-9. Watching Hami was gutting as Brits would say. Considering how many drivers have been fighting for the top positions, I think this could very well end Hami WDC chances this year unless McLaren close the gap to RB. On a personal level I think it was karma repayment as seeing Felipe's engine let go on the last lap in 08 gave me joy. It was said by the BBC pit team.
