I'm trying to figure a way to add some sport seats. OEM are hard to find and off the charts in price so I was looking at some Sparco seats. I'm not sure which ones to get that would bolt in without to much hassle and then how to tackle the airbag light issue. Any help and opinions are appreciated. Thanks

Hey Josh, greatly appreciate the insight. I just put in Sparco seats, all manual, nothing on them to connect to the floor connector on the F430, how did you complete the circuit, if you don't mind my asking?

These are nice!...maybe get the headrest embroidered with the horsey?

Lorenzo, when I removed my seats and replaced them with the challenge seats, I didn't get a light for airbags or any lights.

Did you have manual seats before? or electric? The electric Daytonas seem to have some add'l wiring over the manual setup

Did the challenge seats or seatbelt stalks have any electrical connectors to plug into the floor connector?

sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to get mine sorted as I put them in the wiring is def not right, thank you, greatly appreciate any information provided!

    Hi John,
I have full electric Daytonas. When I took them out there was 1 plug to undo ( i'm guessing to operate electrical) Of course, I didn't need any plug in for the Sabelt Challenge seats. I have 6 point harnesses on the challenge seats but I do have usage of the regular belt. My F430 is a 2005.

Thank you Seong, interesting. I seem to have a different setup.

08, Electric Daytonas, on the driver side floor, the large oval power connector, on the seat is the mate to that floor connector. Additionally though, there is a white connector that goes to the belt buckle stalk to the seat.

on the passenger side, I have the large power connector, and at the head of the floor harness an additional small plug that has a mate on the Daytona passenger seat.

When I put in the manual seats, didn't connect anything as there are no connectors on the seats, and now I have an AIRBAG light on the dash.

Not sure what to do, thank you for the additional info though!!!

Yeah, the change must have come in the later models. Do you get a seatbelt light or sound if you don't buckle up?

"an additional small plug that has a mate on the Daytona passenger seat"

Likely a sensor for passenger seat weight.

If you measure the resistance at the original seat connector you may come up with about 1.8 - 2.2 Ohms.

Set a resistor to the floor connector with the measured resistance, and then when you have the airbag light reset the light should not come back again.

It is tricking the system to think there is a seat sensor attached.

ok, think, thanks to you all, I've got it figured out. don't need the seat power connectors, so those just sit on the floor unconnected. the white plug on the stalk is for the electric daytonas, so that goes and I put in a plain belt stalk.

the last piece is the small connector under the passenger seat which I think is a pressure sensor for the SRS which is probably why I'm getting an airbag light, I'll connect the Daytona seat on just that connector and if it the light goes out, I just have to terminate (close loop) that connection.

One last question (I hope) what did you do for seat rails? did you purchase OEM sport rails?

    Thank you all again!!!

If you are lucky the light will go out, but I believe the system is looking for a bit of resistance from that connection.

Try to connect and if no go measure the resistance across the seat connector with a digital multimeter

    John,
I custom made solid 1/4 aluminum plates that bolted up to the Sabelt seat bracket w/runner rails.

Thanks again, I missed a couple posts from before

@Flea7 - I have to double check but don't recall getting any seatbelt indication

    Just airbag

@GCalo - Think you are right about resistance, I have a meter, but not sure how to add a resistor. Don't know much electrical

use a digital meter as it will give more accurate readings.

    Measure very accurately

give me that value and then I can mail you a resistor.

all you have to do is on the wire near the connector from the vehicle (not the old seat) is to carefully strip a small area on both leads, twist the resistor ends slightly shortened onto those two stripped areas, solder the leads, then tape it off.

    That should work great.

You will need to have the light reset with an SD2 etc however.

No aftermarket seems to make a device to reset the bag/seatbelt lights

what is under the seat is a passenger sensor.

W/O a passenger it deactivates the passenger airbag

so bypassing the switch may deactivate the passenger airbag.

the switch may be removable from the original seat.

hard to accurately answer your question.

yes those resistors would work if you have the correct resistance as what is in that switch

    Thank you

So what happens with manual seats from the factory I wonder.

They have it as always on? Those manual seats are not equipped with the pressure sensor?

    I don't honestly know

This is why you need to measure the resistance on the seat plug.

If the resistance is minimal like 0.5 ohms then it is just a plug, and no resistor is needed.

Either way you need to go to a shop after you bypass the plug to get the lite reset with an SD2
