I probably should have posted this here to begin with. I am looking for an airbox for a 1978 308 GTS.

    JUST THE SHELL.

No gaskets, flaps or actuators. I just want a structurally sound shell. It can be ugly and in need of paint.

I have tried GT Car Parts, Butch Hooper and T.Rutlands so far and they are asking quite a bit for JUST A SHELL.

    Anybody?

    My humble thanks,
    DJ

I had the same idea DJ and was bidding on an E-bay one but lost it. It actually went for a decent price too.

I have one. I am thinking of putting open air filters on my car. If I do, I'll let go of the shell. PM me your e-mail and I will let you know when I complete my research.

I have one coming in but you might want to contact Jdubbya. He expressed interest in one also.

i got mine from Pierce Manifolds. the sounds from the carbs are impressive, i am REALLY happy with the switch. i cant offer my airbox as i will be selling my GTB in the spring and i want the new owner to decide how much of this stuff stays or goes.

Nice set up. I'll check thier site out. I think I want to do the conversion too. It looks kick ass, I know it sounds kick ass too, but how does it run? Some people say the hot air effects it some.

    Hey Michael,
How'd ya get those carbs so clean? Complete rebuild or a careful outside cleaning? Mine run great and I just jetted and synched them, so I have no interest in rebuilding, but I sure would like to clean the outsides. They are ratty looking.

car runs fine. my friend Jfrazar turned me on to these kits. yes i suppose you can argue that the hotter air may make a difference, but by feel of the butt in the seat i do not agree. the car pulls harder, and i believe the carbs pull cool air in through the top slats, while the air intake on the right side helps to flow cooling air over the whole compartment. this 77GTB is the best 308 i have ever been in.
please understand, to me the car is a toy, it is no race car, but the "feel" has changed and the noise made by the carbs is intoxicating. i feel its worth it, and i dont / cant drive it hard enough on public roads for it to matter!

i sprayed them down with carb cleaner, but compared to the carbs that were on the old GTS that were freshly redone by Pirece Manifolds, these are still dirty and i need to replace the carb fuel lines. thanks for the comment though! the car runs so well i dont want to touch the carbs unless they need it! :)

Thanks, bud. I will take your advice. I will pick up a set and see for myself. When the car is up and running. I will let you know how it goes.

Thats a nice setup as well. Do you have any info where I can read about its performance or where to purchase? Thanks.
