Has anybody recently gone through the process of purchasing a spare remote for the Diablo's alarm system? I have heard different things from everyone I've talked to and I was wondering if any forum members had successfully done this on their own. Keep in mind I do not have the red pin card so that obviously complicates things a little. I recall reading somewhere that a copy of the pin number is under the serial number sticker on the actual module. Can anybody confirm this?
    Thanks.

There are some very small screws holding the right side panel of the center console, pull of the side panel and you can pull the box out enough to read the numbers on it .

Thanks for the removal instructions. Have you ever had to reprogram a remote? I know you have been battling a finicky situation with your alarm and I agree that it is likely the brain module causing all the problems.

I don`t know how to program the remote but when I fix my car if I have to remove the med completely or tap into it to get my car going I might have a spare remote I can give you, I am waiting on a schematic of the wireing.

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

Well...I did a technical thread on the subject but with no tech. section here, it's lost.

    MED 2000

OK, the Med system that's used cannot have another remote programmed for it. The serial numbers on the box are useless as you cannot buy a remote and they are not referenced to the VIN on the car. Lambo does not keep any paper work on the alarms so you can't go that way either. Even if you have the MED card, MED won't sell you a remote.

You can buy another MED system brain and accompanying remote from Lambostuff.com. You just unplug the box in the center console, replug the new one and there you go.

I went through this a few years ago as my remote was getting very flaky and wouldn't work properly. On the 97.5 and earlier cars, the alarm is silly anyways. It's a passive system that just flashes the hazards when tripped with no siren.

Thanks Shamile. Lambostuff.com are actually the people that told me they could get in the preprogramed remote but I must admit this whole issue seems very sketchy. I will call them tomorrow and ask about purchasing the entire system.

Do you recall what pricing was when you purchased it and did it come with 2 remotes?
    Thanks.

Call Steve @ Driven Exotics. He can get you additional remotes pre-programmed. Nothing sketchy about it - all very straight forward.

You can order a spare remote from a Lambo dealer. You have to provide proof of ownership and the Vin # of the car. They do keep records. I ordered a few spare ones to keep on hand. They came pre programmed for me. Not sure what year car you have but that's how it worked for me.

As far as I know its is a myth that there is a pin code on the ecu box for the alarm.

Its no myth , I have mine out now , but I mean there are numbers on a tag , and there are numbers stamped in little boxes , ( stamped into the plastic ) , well I am not sure its a code or not so it could be a myth ,I am not sure , I could go out and read them again to see if it mentions code .

I have ordered my spare remote from Lambostuff and like you have stated all I had to do was provide a copy of the title and my driver's licence. They assured me they have done this successully numerous times in the past so I hope it all goes as planned. My car is a 1999 Diablo Roadster but I don't think it should make any difference. I did have one dealership (whose name I won't mention) quote me $5800.00 for a new module with 2 remotes because you could not purchase spare remotes under any circumstances. I should have called another one but went to Lambostuff instead because they have been great to deal with in the past.

Sounds like you will be good to go from Lambostuff. Like I said mine were already programmed via the cars vin. Lambo keeps record of that. For those that want to know the part # for the MED Alarm remote it is 0061005005. Cost was about $230 each.

Also the pin number is only used for being able to start the car without a remote by turning the key on and off in the numeric sequence. Down the road you might need to replace the siren ($500) after the internal batteries go bad as well. The whole MED system is a PIA if you ask me but it is what it is.
