@Sj_engr - Thank you! I wish I had seen this post before I went to the dealer. I do see the pill in my original key, do I just pull it out? I think you are right about them not understanding and pulling out the ring as well.
Check my before picture where I cut around the base of the pill and then also "after" where I had to cut the section of the 3rd party key. Similar technology used back in 2000 fords and probably many other cars. Pills are all different shapes depending on the frequency they use etc. Immobilizer energizes the pill via the antenna ring of the ignition, confirms the lookup table inside of itself.
@Sj_engr - Ok those pictures were very helpful. I have transferred over the pill now to see if the dealer will try the programming without charging me again. They did want 1450 for a new key and programming so we will see! BTW, I did try using the back of the original with logo on the new one but does not fit, might need some filling and it should fit, I think Thanks!
I just stuck with the default backing but maybe there is a nice prancing horse decal or emblem that would fit on it. The seller actually ponied up the cost for a factory 2nd key so this one is just sitting in the drawer "in case".
If you don't have the code, what is reasonable to expect from the dealer? I am in the process of buying a 360 with one key and remote, and want a spare, but don't have the PIN. So knowing what to expect and not get ripped off would be awesome. Thank you.
This thread is about a F430. 360 keys can be cloned/created by individuals and do not need the dealership. Do a 360 replacement key search but I think there are at least two if not more groups offering extra keys.
Did u get the programming done on the 2nd key at the dealer?. Going to the dealer in a few days and trying to see if there is anything else I am missing. Thanks
I had plans to until I was able to get a 2nd key direct from Ferrari paid for. Now this uncut/un-programmed spare key sits in my drawer.
