With my recent purchase of a 2009 F430 and getting to speed on this forum (I should have done this before the purchase). I've been looking at the options of getting a spare key for my F430. I have the red key fob....and that's it. I can't seem to locate the 4 digit pin card (having said that I haven't looked for the actual immobiliser unit yet). Was wondering what the best course of action would be (without paying "Ferrari Prices" ) The old threads on the subject seem to be quite a few years old. Fingers crossed someone has sussed out the tech. Any recommendations in and around London?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
You might ask f chat member Gobble. He’s helped many folks, he has an ad in the for sale section. Maybe he can give you some hints. Otherwise, it’s off to the dealer, you have to prove ownership and then wait for the factory to do some programming I believe someone said. And yes, it’s expensive as mentioned
recent similar thread - its not as easy as the 360 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/replacement-key-options.612492/
Thanks for the info all. Regarding the Ferrarifobs site unfortunately it doesn't cover F430's... Has anybody had any luck with a local specialist? Here's a video that's for the 458 Another potentially important point. The Alfa Romeo 156 seems to have the same system installed. So may investigate who can reprogram Alfa keys.
My local Indy was able to get the fob programmed for lock/unlock but could not get the car to read the key chip for ignition so I still have no spare key that will start the car. Nearest dealer is 10+ hour round trip. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
My Ficom diagnostic tool does key programming for 612/599. Think it would probably do the same for 430 (could check for you). It’s a different way to go, but the tool is about £300, and could be useful for you to have in general over the your time with the car. As it happens I had Ferrari replace a couple years ago (before I bought the Ficom), and it was about £600 from a main dealer. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
@brogenville - Is there a specific version of the Ficom tool that I would need to purchase for the key programming? Does the option for the 430 appear for key programming, based on your comment it looks like there is an option for programming the 612/599? Thanks!
My Ficom is on loan right now, so I can’t check for you myself, but I’ve emailed the main developer to see what he says. He’s pretty good at working with users to add features if it’s not something that’s immediately available. Every time something new gets added, it’s a benefit for all of us. @brogenville Did you hear anything back? I checked the Ficom website, looks like they dont have it in stock anymore.
Hi, yet t have a formal response from the Ficom guys, but I just gave them a phone. I think they're just working through a backlog of emails; having flagged up my query, hopefully I'll get a response soon. They said that new units will be available in September
