    First thread!
I was looking at a lovely 458 Speciale for sale posted on this site (the one in TDF Blue), and I thought - what's available here in the UK?
Not many - but some very nice examples.
Then I came across this one - gorgeous.

The thing is - it has a spare wheel.

Now - I'd never say I was any kind of expert - but I don't recall seeing a spare in the front of a Ferrari - or any other supercar - for quite some time!
Is this normal? Or would it be owner specced?
Thanks in advance (this has me curious!)

Interesting - I wondered if it might be a factory option.
It seemed a bit strange to me that, in a car where weight saving was a large part of the point, you would choose to have that much weight sitting in the nose.
I guess you could always leave it at home - but then - why have it in the first place instead of a foam kit?

Depends what your intended use for the car would be, methinks. For track days and the like, you can take the spare out at the pits.
For cross-continent touring, it'd be a lifesaver if you were to have a puncture on, say, an Alpine pass (although that does raise the question of luggage storage!)

Yeah - after I posted, the long distance drive option came to mind and made perfect sense - but I'd forgotten about luggage! I suppose if you were just doing ANY drive where you weren't having a 'fast day', or going to a track, it would make sense to carry the spare - as you say - a lifesaver. Anyone else out there got a spare in their sportscars?

If you drive out of easy towing range its a VERY nice thing to have. I bought a spare for my 360 and keep it in the car if needed.

Luggage obviously compromised, but it looks like the Pista photo above has it better positioned than the 458 photo the OP posted. At least with the outer wheel face of the rim facing the ground you could fit a little bit more stuff in the barrel of the wheel unlike with the rim face on the hood-side.

I believe in some countires it is mandatory to have a spare so the factory has a provision for it and offers it to ROW

Such a novel concept. A spare wheel. What will the Italians think of next.
