After 2200 miles and a few Cels in between I started replacing a few parts. The first 7 spark plugs looked pretty good after removal with probably 5-7k wear since the last major. #1 plug on passenger side looked like it was never changed from factory. The brand was champion A6g and it required a larger socket to remove. The others were A6GC and required a smaller socket.

Being baffled for 30 minutes why a socket that easily yanked 7 plugs out and could not remove the last one I tried smaller and larger sockets to grip it. Short of pulling out the endoscope 2 sizes up socket yanked it out. The wear was utterly horrible since it looked about to disintegrate and most likely contributed to Cels.

In the photo the one on the right is old and the one on left looked like 2-8.

When checking plugs it is better to Check all 8 to be sure!! The suspect 1-4 cel bank led me to replace whatever on that side and that is how the low spark was found and fixed.

If anyone is interested I replaced the champion plugs with a set of custom vertex crossfire plugs. Met the guy who makes them who lives a few miles from my house. They are basically a copper plug with a twisted electrode (triangle spark). Good power and idle. Not associated with his business just posting an alternative.

Champion spark plugs are not what they once were.

    I prefer NGK or Denso.
