My 1984 Mondial QV has black extenders with NGK BPGES plugs.

My intention is to go Iridium. I found in the forum that the recommended plug is BPR7EIX or BPR6EIX. But these are resistive plugs that go with the red extenders. I have the black extenders in my car.

Did a PO change the original red non-resistive extenders with the black resistive ones and changed the plugs to non resistive?

Will I be ok with BPR7EIX plugs with the black extenders? I can't find Iridium non resistive, BP7EIX does not exist.

Don't rely on just the plastic's color to make a conclusion about the resistance of your extenders -- use an ohmmeter and make a measurement (for example, TR extenders are also black and have 0 Ohm resistance).

Adding a little more resistance with a resistor-style plug won't cause you any trouble. It's using a non-resistor (0 Ohm) extender with a non-resistor plug that would be trouble -- this can stress, and blow-up, the transistor in the Digiplex firing the coil primary.
