Picking up on the below thread regarding a green (blech) 550 that's been for sale in FL for a loooooong time, I'm beginning to wonder about two other seemingly nice, straight 550s that are going BEGGING at $79k and $89K respectively. And the colors are actually nice!!

    Michael Sheehan's Blue 98:

    http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-550M-111317

and this '97 available in NJ:

    http://www.interstatemotorsport.com/detail.cfm?V=1997%7CFerrari%7C550%7CMARANELLO%7C550%7CMARANELLO&ID=343077

Granted, both cars have some issues. Mileage is one (a bit high for 550s, but not enough to scare most) and there has been much chatter about Sheehan's car due to all the work that was performed. (Personally, that's a plus because at least I'd know the car did not sit and that things are pretty much sorted now.)

I raise this because not long ago I got bi*ch-slapped by other Fchatters for even suggesting that there were *nice* 550s available in the $70ks-$90ks. Clearly, there are and, what's more, these are DEALER cars which suggests that they can be bought for even less...

Just my opinion. Happy to hear yours.

why would you bother with sheehan's car ? $89k with nearly 40k miles. no thanx. i'll spend another $10k for a newer car with less mileage. plus i am sick of reading his "economic analysis" in scm

    the second car looks interesting......

I guess its true that I have questionable taste, but it is MY taste. If you know of any Verde/saddle 550's I would be more than happy to view them. I have only been looking for 8-10 mo. As a padwan I have no right to an opinion but every right to an informed decision. Pur Luv bro

Theq - I meant no disrespect on the ding I made on the green 550. (See my response to your other post). Basically, I think the world is your oyster because you won't have a lot of competition for a green 550. Also, because it doesn't SCREAM Ferrari like a Red, Yellow or White one, you can sidle up to another car at a stoplight and only those who can recognize how special the 550s are will nod their caps at you.

Besides, who wants every 15-year old yahoo coming up at the gas station asking how fast it can go. Gets old REALLLY fast....

Yeah, I remember dealing with Sheehan during the go-go late '80s Ferrari craze and his head was so swollen he couldn't fit through a doorway. What a jerk. I have since heard that he had his comeuppance some years after the collector car market crash in the early '90s (like Rick Cole and the lot of those fast money Ferrari guys). I think he lost his shop - European Auto, I think it was called, in Costa Mesa. He was well known for 'cutting' a lot of Daytona Coupes back in the day.

Say, does anyone remember The Tower Report from those days?? That was the only Ferrari market guide worth reading. Keith Martin's rag was a copy of what Tower was doing years before, but I digress...

That said, I'd separate Sheehan from the cars he's repping. I think this car is priced right at $89k even with the miles. I still needs an interior refurbish (that blue felt dash is God-awful) and a few other things, but if you want a nice Blue 550 driver, you could do worse for the price.

As I have not yet puchased Ferraris, I can bear no malice. I simply seek the truth. The green 456 appeals to me as well.

Here is one I saw on ebay a few days ago. I think it looks great. Its a SA, so a little pricier than a standard 550. Probably that much more rare though.

I saw that one up close a few days ago, very nice car. Owned by a regular at Miller. I heard the rep pitching to someone else and it had a weird story to it, dealing with the color. Seemed to be in excellent condition from what I could see.

Yeah I'm sure Roy would be happy to see us. That car was owned by a local club member and has a good history. It has been there a while but I hear its a good runner.

Thanks that is a nice car. I have read some of your other threads. Did you ever straw man for that guy that wanted that scud at RTGT? If its not to presumptious to ask. Your knowledge on these subjects is appreciated.

This is very interesting, too bad it's clear across the country,

Ad states quilted headliner and Carbon Fiber Instrument, Door and Shift Console, I don't see any quilting in the headliner and only see a carbon shift knob.

Something fishy here, too many mistakes in description, plus the price is too high for this market, otherwise I would fly back and look at it, or have someone there check it out.

The color works for me though.

Let's just say that he bragged A LOT about what it could do....He also used to rip up and down the street in a Murcie.

Caveat: He was also a bit of a blow hard.

If the car is from Auto Sport Designs in NY (Tom Papadopoulos) I would not worry about any discrepancies as they are probably oversights. Tom has a stellar reputation in the industry. His listed prices do tend to be high, but I would assume standard negotiations apply. If you are interested in the car I suggest calling them. I never bought from them but was close a few times (decided on different direction-- they are Aston specialists).

    Best,
    dsd

I couldn't find any 550s on their web site. Have you seen the car in person?

    What color is it?

    I'm looking for a nice 550 too.

Yes, I know the owner of that car and the mechanic who did the service.

It's a very nice car at a good price!

But, I'm looking for a newer one with some particular options.

Further on the original intent of this thread, is anyone else noticing a DELUGE of 575s now in the for sale market, or is it just me?
