My rearview mirror literally fell off the stalk whilst driving. I pushed it back onto the stalk in order to continue driving but noticed 2 tiny cracks appear where the rear view mirror attachement base/?rain sensor attaches to the windscreen. Have since taken the car back to the local dealer who has lodged a warranty claim but initial local dealer feedback was that whilst the rear view mirror was a warranty issue, they did not think the windscreen crack was!!

Have voiced my disapproval of their initial feedback but would be curious to hear if others have had any issues.

and oh, car is still at dealership - day 2 - they could not start the car - found a faulty cell in the battery - car is currently 9 months old and already has had a battery replacement at 3 months of age due to faulty cell!

That sucks! It happened to me too... window split right from the rear view mirror but my dealer was able to get it warrantied.

All that matters is what Ferrari warranty thinks not dealer. I would be vocal about crack. Battery, well seems weak spot on Ferrari. But under warranty.

Hope it all gets resolved soon.

Ferrari has to do better with the stock battery. Mine in the 458 has to be replaced after 5 months. The dealer and I decided not to use the OEM battery and replaced it with a World Sourceone exact fit AGM battery. It works much better. You may want to check my thread here on battery discussions. Good luck with the windshield.

If you have exact part or info on that battery I would appreciate it

Windshield no big deal to fix under glass policy of insurance. Usually no questions asked and no increase to premiums afterwards.

They use a thinner windshield for the Speciale so something has to give. I did a retrofit of the auto dimming rear view mirror and while removing the mirror, the dealership broke the wind shield and had to install a brand new one for me. The next generation should hopefully come with gorilla glass wind shield like in the upcoming Ford GT.

For my Aperta I've gone for the heat insulating windshield - I guess it's thicker than the standard so hopefully no issues. Can you also get film for the windshield to prevent chipping and cracking?

thanks all - as indicated above - the Speciale has the thinner windshield and mine was optioned with the heat reflective/athermic option. Yes my insurance does cover replacement windscreen but it really sucks as a matter of principle that this even happened in the first place!

As for battery - will definitely see if it can be replaced with an aftermarket version as I don't have much faith in the OEM units!

Insurance will not replace if it is 2 small cracks they will repair the windshield for free without a deductible. Clear resin will be used to fill the crack. I had a small crack on my Audi windshield and the insurance fixed it for free.
