458 Special is not PF. No badge, no PF. That's how enthusiasts see it. Sorry. And the last Ferrari PF was not the 458.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but not their own facts. On the PF website and numerous others PF takes the credit for the specific design of the Speciale, that’s enough for any enthusiast. Furthermore, in my opinion, whether the car has the PF badge or not has no bearing. The Speciale is a race car for the street. For performance, weight was cut and aerodynamics increased.

    Cheers.

So why do you have a Dino section on this website? No badge, no Ferrari. That's how enthusiasts see it, I'm I right?

To state that the 458 Speciale was designed by Pininfarina (full stop) leaves out some important information, no? A more fair/accurate thing to say would be that the Speciale design effort was a collaboration between Flavio Manzoni and Pininfarina.

Amazing… is this the high water mark for a public Speciale transaction?

I was watching that auction conclude with my jaw on the floor. I had a shot at that car at $499k and passed before the New Year, not having yet seen any comps that justified the price. Doh!!! Oh well, ya' win some, ya' lose some.

This experience has inspired me to sell my 2014 RC 458 Spider ASAP so I'm ready for the next Speciale opportunity when it pops...wish me luck! :)

Now is a great time to sell a spider! The only thing you have to worry about is if the prices continue to climb and those Speciales keep going up. I think this car is an outlier and a product of 2 bank accounts really wanting it.

But there are 4 Speciales on Autotrader asking 599k. And the car from Merit went from asking of 510k to 599k!

Well, many do post that a Dino is a Dino and not a Ferrari. But that's a separate debate. The Speciale is desirable for what it is and not what it isn't. Its recognized as a Manzoni car which goes hand in hand why there is no PF badge on it. It doesn't impact it's desirability. Its a brilliant car but will never be a PF and no one cares.

I think that is splitting hairs. The key aspects of the design were PF.

The 458 body design is 100% a PF design right? The Speciale, body wise only has fresh bumpers and a few aero flicks and ducts added to the base 458. I’d say, at most 20% different body panels. They have essentially the same silhouette from the front, side, and back. The same roofline, doors, front and rear fenders, all windows and dimensions all exact. So, as it stands, still an 80% PF design to my eyes. But as stated above, even the 20% new was a collaborated effort by PF and in house designers. So the way I see it, if we split the 20% between PF and Ferrari right down the middle, then the Speciale is 90% PF and 10% in house. Thus, more PF than anything else - regarding exterior design only of course.

Went from asking of 599k to 629k. Get ‘em while they are hot!

And as someone who loves the 458 Italia to my eye the Speciale is so much more beautiful! :)

My stripeless coupe. Was looking for an SA a few years ago and when I wasn’t finding a spec I wanted bought this coupe that came up ay my dealer. Fell for the interior (Irocco) but really came to appreciate the stealthy exterior.

Prices in the US getting much higher then here in Europe. In dollars they are here between 325-375k usd.

Curious to see what will happen here in the coming years……

Nice. Stealth is beautiful on 458S. Exterior GS or CdF?

True. But most 458S on market in EU have many miles, which hurts resale. The few low-mile cars remaining in EU have sold high, a delivery-mile launch-spec S having sold recently at 650k for example.

    @jeffmoore

also looks like currently 35+ Speciales for sale in EU (not including UK), that's 10 times more than the USA, if EU inventory was reduced 10x I imagine their pricing would be higher too..

Supply is still relatively low on the 458S but because of the unknown number I went with the 458 SA.
