I found this rather high spec S for sale in Auckland yesterday. At time of writing it had done 350km and was for sale for $599k. It was bought in the UK by the owner and imported to NZ with zero k's on the clock apparently. Interesting spec included front lifter, cf winglets, fins and front splitter and racing four point harness, black floor mats and radio. In NZ we get Australian spec cars and they're not allowed four point harness so this could be the only one in NZ with it (unless anymore grey imports arrive). The interior was Nero alcantara with light grey 3D tech fabric.

I managed to wrangle a ride as a passenger (because I can't wait for mine to arrive!) and the dealer drove it well, warming it up and keeping it below 6000rpm. I was very impressed by the distinct natures of the car being wet mode and race mode. Another thing that struck me was just how race car bullet-proof it felt along with a beautiful gearbox, even manoeuvring it in the yard from 1st to reverse smoothly and quickly. I guess the biggest surprise to me is that I now know it has rear speakers with the radio option making a basic system at least tolerable when driving in traffic :)

Here's a link to the ad, but that will expire so I'll post details below. Aussies, this could be a good chance for you to buy and export if no kiwi snaps it up! For the spec and mileage it's probably fairly priced IMO. I believe we have 9 NZ new cars and this dealer told me this is one of two additional grey imports.

Copied and pasted from the ad below...

Update: Dealer ended up increasing his asking price to $650k NZD with the only logical reason being the car must have been attracting overseas interest? The car ended up selling back to the UK late Sept 15 for £285 or approx $630k NZD the exchange rate at the time.

I note similar spec RHD cars are now selling for £340,000 as of late Dec 15 in the UK!

Possibly the highest mileage Speciale having travelled to the other side of the world and then back again but only showing 350km on the dial ;)

Zero Apertas in NZ so I imagine it would be worth a lot. Mind you it's a small market here, if RHD it would be worth more in the UK as this one at the top of the thread proved. 9 Speciales all up in NZ, I've heard approx 30 between NZ and OZ.

I'm taking delivery of my Aperta in Auckland - think it arrives in port on the 15th. Will probably keep it based there for two years of driving holidays. I was originally going to take delivery in Aistralia but thought NZ would be more fun to drive around.

I would think there are more than 21 Speciales in Australia. I would think a number closer to 40

Yep, you're probably right. A little Google search suggests...

    "Ferrari 458 Speciale Verdict
Any new Ferrari is a headline-grabber and the 458 Speciale is…well it’s special. Ferrari reckons some 50-60 examples will be snared by lucky owners in Australia and New Zealand."

This SOLD in Nov within two weeks to a kiwi buyer apparently.

    Transmission Details: 7 Speed DSG
    Seats: 2

    Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag.

    2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale

    Power: 445 kW (605 hp) @ 9,000 rpm
    Torque: 540 Nm @ 6,000 rpm
    0 - 100 km/h: 3.0 seconds
    Top Speed: 320 km/h

At its launch it was the fastest V8 supercar ever produced by Ferrari, the 458 Speciale really needs no introduction. The already spectacular 458 platform benefits from a huge host of alterations including increased power which equates to the most driver focused Ferrari V8 ever produced. The increased power means the 458's Motor held a World Record for naturally aspirated output. The 458 Speciale's 605HP equates to 135hp/litre, an astonishing output. Perhaps not surprisingly, the 458 Speciale won the prestigious 2013 Supercar of the Year award from Top Gear Magazine and 2014 Evo Magazine Car of the Year .

Autocar Magazine formed the following conclusion on testing the awe inspiring Speciale: The mid-engined Ferrari supercar has reached a turning point, it strikes us and there may never be a better one for purist thrill-seekers than the one you see here. Cut from the same cloth as the legendary Challenge Stradale and Scuderia, the Speciale is the last installment in this hugely collectible line of thrilling naturally aspirated V8 supercars.

Good to see it was actually driven and not the normal garage queen - wonder what the original owner moved on to?

Not sure, but as I understand it all other kiwi owners plan to hold on to their cars. Hope you're enjoying your visits down under? What been you favourite road so far?

So many fun roads - the most fun recently was the Gentle Annie between Taihape and Napier an absolute blast as was the East Cape on a previous trip. To be honest, even on fairly straight forward roads there are wonderful sections and the scenery is spectacular. I've also been pretty lucky with weather. In a total of 22 driving days I've done 5,200km and had only 3 days with rain!!!

Law enforcement hasn't been a problem - I don't go fast on highways or busy roads - no point just relax and get where I'm going with the top down. On the great windy roads almost no traffic and I have fantastic fun drives. The Stinger works well but common sense is your best friend. Next trip will be down to Queenstown and back. Down via East coast back via West. Won't go until I have my bike rack ready - so hopefully April which, coincides with the Thai New Year holiday.

Found everybody friendly and polite on my travels which is a great bonus. People like to see the car and a few have sat in it for their picture and I've taken some for short spirited drives!!!

Hi watch out around Tiwzel, the cop around there is notorious and caught me speeding but detector gave me time to brake hard. Enjoy it's a lovely part of the world. Make sure you book lunch at Amidfield more than once and get to Glenorchy
