Hi Guys Well, i've been absolutely SHAFTED by my UK dealership - I had a call yesterday after my deposit had been on the car for almost a year and I had signed off on my spec at the Atelier that if I wanted my car in May (this May) as originally indicated I would have to add another £25,000 worth of extras, or else they wouldn't even build my car until March next year. So WTF!!?? Has anyone else in the UK experienced this? Thanks
I have not personally, but something similar was just mentioned in this thread by member martisracing: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/458-italia/439495-offered-speciale-today-2.html "Demand is strong in the UK as well. I orderd mine in January and it is due to arrive March next year. I tried 3 different dealers and all were saying the very best slot they could offer was the end of this year. One dealer I was speaking to after I ordered mine was saying Ferrari have told the UK dealers that unless they put at least £38K of extras on they will not get one this year."
Jesus! That's bloody ridiculous, sound to me like they want to sell your slot and that will be the way out for them. I.E they need to move you onto another slot that has a higher From a manufacturing point of view surely it cannot make that much of a difference. Who are you dealing with?
WTF that is shocking. I made my order for my italia last june and i said i want it 1st march for the 14 plate. Car still ain't here and it just hit status 70 this week so hopefully collect in next 2 weeks. They have been quite fair and gave me an FF to use in the meantime. Asking to spec £25k of extras is crazy. Was it £20k deposit?
Call Francesco Balli (Ferrari SpA Area Manager for the UK) and he will set the recors straight for you. He is a really good guy
I would've blown a gasket. That's horrible. Glad guys like Peter are on this forum to advise to quickly...!
Yep - I was told that the first batch of cars 'had' to have £35K + of extras! My new Italia was code 40 last week, so I expect end of month??? Not too fussed as I've still got my 2011 458 and the value was fixed when we did the deal! My Speciale is at the moment scheduled for Spring 2015 - so if people get pissed and cancel, I might see it sooner! G
That's terrible way to treat a customer. It is simply unacceptable. I refused to be biotch slapped, especially when I am the customer. I have too much self respect to put up with the arrogance of FCar dealers.
Hey everyone, Thanks for the feedback. Yeah it's utterly disgraceful and I feel pushed out! The only explanation can be that someone has walked in the dealership and said get me one no matter the cost! And this is what they came to me with? If they had told me from day one then fine - but they allowed me to sign off on my final spec, weeks went by and NOW they decide to ask for an extra £25k! It's not even the extra money that's the problem it's the fact I speced the car exactly how I wanted it - anything else would not be my car essentially! And secondly - it's the bloody principal!
Simply - I must buy more stuff - whatever, just make it a £250k car. Well, there are nice F12's kicking around at that price!
F that... call head honchos if possible and complain... utter nonsense for such an expensive machine. We all understand the supply and demand of these cars but at the end of the day if you are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on an automobile you deserve to be treated with respect AT A MINIMUM.
Last guy who got a 458 sent here? They painted it the wrong color. PAINTED IT THE WRONG COLOR! I would have said, "Fine. Return my deposit and call me when you can build a car to my specs." Beyond ridiculous. Cheers, George
None of us know the specifics of the OPs situation, not even the OP unfortunately! Rather rude by the dealer though. The dealers in their contract with F are either penalised or incentivised if they don't make/ do have a minimum option spend average per new car. That may be hiked up a bit for speciales. Whatever that's the dealer's problem not yours. If you are paying list for the car they are clearly saying pay us more or we'll bump you down the list. Possibly because they see you as an easy target to boost their average option spend and hit that target. The ordering of the "list" is rife with juggling eg buy a physical car from us now and we'll order a specced car for delivery in 3 months, thereby bumping people on the list, for perceived unobtainable cars. Did the dealer cover the Atelier trip cost and would the dealer happen to be located in London perhaps just west a bit of the geographic centre?
I can't imagine it's Ferrari doing this... If you want to buy a car without any extras you must be able to do so... Call that Ferrari Sales Manager - I'm quite sure it's the dealer who "sold" your production-slot to someone walking in and waving with a bunch of Pound-notes. I also specced my car at the Atelier and a few days later the spec couldn't be altered any more - and that was more than 3 months before they started assembling my car....
I ordered my Speciale 3 months ago in China, and it's almost without any optional equipment (less than 100K RMB in our price, the value may just 5K pounds for you). It's status 20 at the moment. Hopefully, I'll get it in June.
I would go first to the Head of the Dealership if possible. If he doesn't respond to your request I would contact (like Peter said) Ferrari Spa directly and tell them what's happening. I might be wrong but I highly doubt that this min spend comes from Ferrari directly. It is possibly the salesman who is trying to make a good "impression" on his boss or on Ferrari by showing how well they are selling... Could you tell us who the dealer is? If not here please PM as I might be able to help if it is someone I know ;-)
Hi, Actually it's a midlands dealer! I already put £23k of extras on it - who needs more! Crazy crazy stuff. Incidentally I have a few connections at head office so I'll see what they say! Thanks
