I stumbled across this film today and thought it would be something most here would enjoy as well. It's about two Navy fighter pilots, Jay and Meagan, and their journey to become F14 Tomcat pilots. It features dog fighting and carrier landing training in good detail as well.

There is some bad language if that is an issue. 90 minutes in length:

I've always wondered - why do F-14's always look so "dirty"? Just a function of their age?

Maybe I'm not seeing it in other fighters, but nothing else seems to look nearly as dirty as F-14's do.

Good question and something I don't know the answer to (as with many other things, lol). One possibility is that when at sea, the carrier crews don't bother to clean the aircraft as often/thorough? Maybe only when they come back to port they clean them as with everything else. Plus, the elements at sea can be far worse than a base inland.

BTW, it was a fun movie, a great story. Nice to see that there some young people with that "drive" to accomplish something. Most of my employees fly fighter aircraft too - on their Xbox 8 hours of the day... :)

Yeah, it was pretty cool. I just found this ad when I was searching for biplanes for sale. Look familiar??? You can see Jay in one of the photos! I hope he's selling it to make room for another plane rather than giving it up for good...
