But then again, Speed has already beaten Piquet Jr. & Jani over a full season in faster cars than these...

Speed was higher up in points, but Jani and Piquet both won races. Sounds like neither came out on top there, You can teach a race winner to be consistent i dunno about the other way around.

Let me just sum it up for you. Speed is one of the very few that got to F1 based on his achievements. His family is not wealthy by no means and he has never had anyone back him up until he was picked for the Redbull program. He was chosen amongst 50 drivers and was in a class of his own when he competed in the Redbull program. Scott Speed is the real deal and has the potential to be world champion. I would put him in the same league as Schumacher, thats how great he is. I know this because I know the Speed family and have seen him race. The guy was absolutely amazing in karts. As for cars, one of my close friend is Phil Carlson(Multiple Skusa national champion) and he raced against Speed in cars. Phil Carlson is another racer who is an amazing talent. He raced Speed in the Russel series, him and Speed were close rivals, Speed won the championship and Phil finished second. In Phil's opinion, Speed is the best racer he has seen and he deserves to be in F1.

I am very excited to see an American back in F1 (assuming he makes it) but IMO it's way too early to judge his F1 ability. We've all seen drivers dominate junior formulas and karts and fail to bring the same dominance to F1. It's like pro sports in a way...as you go up the ladder it is harder and harder to dominate, because only really excellent talent makes it that far. Time will tell, and I wish him the best.

FYI Scott is confirmed as Redbull's driver for the new team. Actually they wanted him to race last year, but his father put a stop to it because he needed more experience. In addition, when he did his first test with Redbull(Same day as BMW Williams were testing) he was the fastest. Williams later than approached Redbull to see if they can buy his contract out. Another thing is he is getting paid to drive this season. I just found that out today from Phil Carlson(Competitor and Friend). They played golf three weeks ago and apparently Speed is getting something close to 1 million this year.

I guess we'll see how it goes. Hopefully he'll kick some tail and we'll be hearing the Star Spangled Banner during the podium ceremony soon........:)

    It's Scuderia Toro Rosso.

After some Italian criticism, Red Bull boss Dieter Mateschitz has now called his B team Scuderia Toro Rosso instead of Squadra Toro Rosso.

This because the word squadra is more related to football teams (soccer) and scuderia more to F1 teams.

He's not done badly in GP2; but the US driver I rate as being best for his age and experience at the moment is Charlie Kimball.

Second in British F3 in his first season, loads of race wins and poles, beaten only by his vastly more experienced team-mate, Perente.

Hope he goes all the way..........
