Just saw the ad for speed2.com. I had high hopes only to learn that I can't access the site b/c it's not offered by my cable provider. For those with access, how is it? The answer for those that miss the Speed of old?
theoretically I get it, but I have no idea what my user name and password (from my cable provider) are.
Not only do I not get it, I just don't "get" it. I have a different video provider (DirecTv) and Internet provider (AT&T). So, If I'm going to watch Speed2.com through the web on my computer, why should it matter who my video provider is?
If there has been enough of a groundswell for support of a network featuring content SpeedTV is advertising that is supposedly on Speed2, why not just put it on the original channel and make the rubes pay for the wall to wall NASCAR coverage instead? BHW
I was hoping the same thing -- we're Grand-Am fans here... and a few months ago, we got tired of paying the cable company >$150/month for there to be nothing on, so we fired them except for as an ISP. We don't miss cable at all -- I had no idea there were so many over-the-air digital channels these days, for the one-time cost of an antenna! And with a Roku box and subscriptions to Hulu Plus and Netflix, we're still saving more than $90/month compared to cable, while there's plenty of stuff to watch. Except no Speed, which means no Grand-Am. If they offered a paid subscription to speed2.com, I'd sign up -- but they apparently don't, so we'll do without. Urb
Its just another way for them to milk more money from racing fans who should already be getting all racing series and not 'Pinks'! ESPN is no better, damn I miss the original ESPN when you could watch F1, GroupB Rally, IMSA, CART etc etc all on one channel and all in one day.
Hmmm - I'm in almost the same boat - TV from Directv, broadband from Comcast. So although I pay extra (to DTV) for the "Sports Package" I can't receive it either..... This is almost the same problem I'm having trying to get Sky-Go in the UK. One of my boys pays lots for Sky Sports (and hence the F1 channel etc), but he gets it via Virgin Media and is therefore hosed...... My question and some answers are in the UK section if anyone's interested in the sordid details; http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=364000 Seems to me the whole model is about to change - Tata has signed a deal with the pygmy to supposedly make "everything" available via the 'net. The "issue", outside of DTV in this case, (at least under the current rules) is the inherently flawed country-by-country licensing restrictions. As we know, this is easily circumvented, but you've still gotta have an account at the "far end". Cheers, Ian
