We definitely do have more pressing problems to deal with but it still pisses me off and it helps me to vent.

For the past several years we drive down to Florida and spend 3 to 4 weeks in January/February. The thing I notice about some drivers in Florida is they get in the left lane on the interstate and just sit there at the speed limit. They aren't passing anyone, and no one is in front of them. They just park their ass in that left lane and make everyone pass them on the right. Drives me crazy!

We have the same thing here and they also always seem to be the same people that pull out right in front of you and then drive 15 miles an hour under the speed limit.

We used to drive up to Stowe pretty regularly years ago, but now we stop at Woodstock, so I haven't experience much VT highway driving lately. I don't remember VT drivers doing that left lane sitting.

Based on a recent trip on I-5 in a F12, everybody drives in a conga line in the far outside lane. Not only is the inside lane tore up, but it is easier to use a cell phone in the outside lane because you can see the road drop off from the corner of your eye. This did add an element of fun to a boring drive. You could chug along in the outside lane until a long hole opened up on your right. Bear right and gas it. Hey, hey, mama, have you heard the news?

I know statically they are more dangerous, but my preference is two-lane country roads. Now, if someone would invent a laser gun that vaporizes deer.

Problem with 2 lanes is 2 fold. When we were young we were taught how to pass. No one is anymore so it has gotten kind of dangerous. Also most 2 lanes anymore are double yellow because people are so ignorant about passing it is accepted it is a death sentence to do so.

That was the reason I always liked a car that would do 50-100 in a heartbeat.

THIS is the fun zone. Fastest I've driven was 165 (with Rob Lay as a guest, as a concession I did put both hands on the wheel). I don't remember it being fun. More thinking about all the things that could go wrong.

But punching a car to pass, damn, you gotta love torque.

Mostly they don’t unless you do something to piss them off. I was trying to be polite and refrain from mentioning that it is mostly people from states that start with New.

Those drivers in New Mexico are plain nuts.

(I can say that now that Taz doesn't live there any more. :p)

Im sure most would agree that driving on public roads has becoming like playing a video game, and this is even more pronounced when riding a motorcycle. As far as speeding on public roads, well Im guilty as charged, with that being said, one has to know when and where to go fast. What is great about going fast on two wheels, is that you can reach those license revoking speeds so fast, and then slow down just as quick. Bad driving is now a world wide epidemic , and there is no cure anywhere in sight .

Living in Atlanta it is like a Video Game every time you are on the interstate. Many drivers -( usually Male, black, and young ) are driving at super high rates of speed - 100MPH or more weaving in and out of traffic, and some - I kid you not - are holding their phones as well. Its insane to me.

I have not been on the autobahns for a while, but, I was just recently in France and the driving standard has gone way down. I think the saying is ... A Frenchman does not want to pass you, they just want to be where you are.... tail gaiting was everywhere! Also the road condition -surface was terrible... this was in the Bordeaux area... towards the Luberon.

My experience driving in Germany on the Autobahns was that = yes, you can open up the car.... but not for long. the traffic jams are horrible, I remember driving from Stuttgart to Munich, and I think I had maybe 20 min of over 120 mph running... and maybe 45min of over 60mph... the rest was stop and go!

When I was a kid I’d always be doing mods to my cars to make them faster and we did lots of street racing. Nowadays I’m old, drive slow and complain about people driving too fast…..lol. There is a time and place for everything I suppose but I see too much high speed at inappropriate times and places.

You forgot about the pseudo-French from the north in your statement. I have never seen drivers with less skill than les Quebecois. The plate may read "Je me souviens" ('I remember'), but that is NOT in regards to how to drive.

Furthermore, in ALL places, if it's a Honda CR-V or any Toyota but a Supra, it's a 100% guarantee that it's sub-speed limit, in the wrong lane, and will impede your forward progress.

In NC it’s Subarus with elderly or stoned mouth breathers driving. Often there are paw print stickers on the back, a rainbow, or some Audubon Society sticker. They think you’re insane and reckless for attempting to go the speed limit of 35 mph on a mountain country road.

Im living it, you know, with the distracted and just plain stupid drivers. I did 200 miles today on 2 different bikes, all up on the hill, once over the Harbor and back. The amount of drivers making moves without looking , well , I lost count of all the times I had to avoid getting hit. Its not so much speeding, but in most cases its people driving way below the speed limit and not looking all at the same time. I accept it as part of doing business so to speak. Im grateful that Im able to see whats coming and avoid getting hurt. Like I always say, Im sure God will scoop me up off of this rock just in time...Im like an F14, I can scan and detect multiple bogies / threats and take evasive action, at 59, my eyesight is better than 90 % of the all fighter pilots in the world. Where I live , I can say that most drivers are courteous enough to give me room when Im splitting lanes, as well as moving over so I can make clean passes, I will give them that.

I drove this yesterday around, perhaps a bit too fast. I had no problem with people getting out of the way. They gave me thumbs up and other fingers also! For some reason they heard me coming from a long way off…
