I happened upon this segment on Yahoo news Yahoo news has this link about the photo cameras being installed nationwide Then I found this site with some Fun facts These last few fun facts are just interesting & funny ====================================== Top 10 States Notorious for Writing Tickets: 1. Ohio 2. Pennsylvania 3. New York 4. California 5. Texas 6. Georgia 7. Virginia 8. North Carolina 9. Massachusetts 10. Connecticut The average traffic cop will cost a city about $75,000 per year in salary, bonuses, and benefits. This same police officer will make the city an average of $200,000 per year in traffic ticket fines! That’s one hell of a profit margin. Traffic cops have the highest rate of testicular cancer than any other profession in the world. This is a result from them putting the radar guns in their laps without first shutting the machine off. And who says the police don’t have any balls!!
The video claims that speeding is down to 2% in AZ where cameras are placed.. This is probably true at the camera points because everyone just speeds then bottle necks at the cameras, than speeds up again. It causes a "slinky" problem during rush hour driving times making roads dangerous due to the sudden speed up and instant stopping...
Got to Love it Clyde, NY, CT and Ma, at least NJ is "spared"! Just got some new "get out of jail cards" from one of my clients, hope that I don't have to use them, but that if I do, they're accepted!!!
Hmmm.... Well, if the article is correct, they may not keep them for long. (I know, not really a funny subject for any of us guys, but hey, someone had to make the point.)
Heh, Allan warned me about those when I picked up the SL65, ended up booking through 1 anyway. Those things are a tax for out of towners, everyone speeds, flow of traffic is 70-80 on any major interstate. That doesn't fix the problem it just makes locals slow down in one spot, whatever happened to the cops earning the tickets by working?
#7 - Virginia - I hate that state. Cost me over $1000 to get a reckless driving charge (ONLY 85 in a 60!!! Apparently that is reckless....) thrown out and the speeding charge reduced to 74 in a 60. Also got written up for having an illegal radar detector in use (even though I claimed it was unplugged), and that cost me $100. F**K Virginia, I will never drive in that state again. #8 - North Carolina - Not too bad, just gotta hire a local lawyer to get the speeding charge dropped to a non-moving violation. Got a ticket last July for 81 in a 55, and the cop even told me that it was all about getting revenue into the system. Lawyer cost me $300 and charge was reduced to "improper equipment" and a $140 fine.
These cameras remind me of that red light camera down on College Point Blvd, right by the Van Wyck/LIE area, where some guy ran it, got a ticket, and came back with a handgun and unloaded a full clip into that camera.....
Hey Hutch! Any state you're in, the cops are charging us up the yin yang for tickets. I really don't mind the tickets or paying for them so much as the associated increase in insurance premiums David
Hey David!!! I'm with you 100% on paying for the tickets, versus paying the associated increase in insurance premiums. That's why I gladly shelled out $750 to an attorney in Salem, VA, because he got the reckless driving charge tossed. A reckless driving would have stayed on my driving record for 10 years, and my insurance premium would have reflected that for 10 years !!!! Time to move to Germany and drive on zee Autobahn, yahh ....
Yeah , but he still got a Fifty dollar ticket in the mail!!!!!! I got nailed by one on the West Side Hwy, Best picture of my car ever!!!!!!
right up until his wife or g/f said "So you couldn't come to my parents house because you were attending religious services, huh?"
