So I received two tickets in the mail today from a trip a couple of weeks ago to the Netherlands. They were from photo radar on the highway, but no photos were attached.

Tagged at 9 kph and 11 kph over respectively. That's 5 and 6 mph over the limit. They want 30 euros each which is a tiny sum... Guilty? Probably, and lucky it wasn't more.

But have any of you received tickets there? How do I send them Euros? Or do they forget about these? Just don't want to be on interpol's most wanted for not paying.

Seems pretty rediculous, but hey, you have to pay to play. It was a great trip.

You could always wire the cash or send a money order in Euros.

How did you manage to reach a speed over and above the posted maximum with all the traffic jams there?

At those prices you're glad you weren't doing 250....

You lose your license if you do 50km/h over the speed limit

You should check about reciprocity w.the Netherlands. A friend's mother got a couple tix from a trip to Germany a few yrs back and ignored them...until the state of TX in which she resided sent letters notifying her of imminent license suspension if she continued to ignore those Germany tickets.

Those are good things to know.

I will likely pay the fines. Just need to figure out the best way to send them the euros. I guess my bank can get me a money order in Euros.

Traffic was bad in several places in the Netherlands around Eindhoven in particular because of construction. I left early enough out of Tilburg and Amsterdam to avoid the really bad stuff. I only hit the really high numbers in Germany and a couple of spots in NW France.

Hertz charges 20 Euros on my credit card to give my address to the French police whenever I am flashed by a speed trap. The police then drop the matter as it is too costly to pursue a “delinquent” overseas.

I am shocked that the Netherland would track you for such a puny amount.

Request the pictures. 1) They may drop the matter, 2) there may be a mistake and it might not be you.

unless you have a foreign license (like me, oh the joys of multiple licenses:D).

In holland the camera's are nasty. some are placed behind signs, in dustbins etc etc. I dont know how people can live there still. A couple of weeks ago i considered moving back there next summer but decided against it. Its a constant traffic jam out there, the police act like paranoid nazi's and there are more speed bumps than cars. You cant really go out at night and go on a spontanious drive because A) there are hardly any fun roads to drive on and B) the Nazi police will stop you from making your drive fun.

Haven't heard any anecdotals lately, but in the US always plead not-guilty and request to face your accusor with the standard technical questions about setup.

That's usually enough to drop the case.

I've heard some communities which installed stop-light cameras have removed them due because they are beaten in court too often.
