Smack, this is the third instance I've heard off of somebody getting a ticket on the WSH. Cops clearly aren't messing around.

Haven't got a ticket in NYC Cinna so can't point you to a lawyer, but I'm sure somebody on the board will.

    Good luck!

it was heading into the city on the west side highway just near the GW ramp, thursday at 1:20pm, on the ticket it says 5/13 1111 pkwy 189th st.

i have no idea if i was actually going that fast, although i wouldn't be suprised if i was, i was just cruising in the right lane admiring the scenery.

anyone know if Frank Desousa will work?

-from what i've heard on other boards/friends/family, it seems that there has been a fair amount of police activity off the gw's ramps as of late.

i've never heard of a speeding ticket in nyc until now.

2nd. "My Friend" has blown down the WSH at over 120 multiple times and Ive never gotten a ticket. Last week "he" was heading north bound at about 110 when a cop pulled on to the WSH. "He" slowed down to about 80 and the cop didnt even care.

Best of luck with your ticket!

I got pulled over in the city a couple weeks ago for turning left from an outside lane, once I had pulled over, he told me to pull over even more over his speakerphone, sure enough my brand new BBS front wheel goes right into the curb... I didn't get a ticket but the repair on the wheel is going to cost more :(

They seem to be on some zero tolerance binge right now- i watched a fleet of NYPD golf carts, bike cops, vans, cars and tow trucks cleaning off the sidestreets around Times Square today for any conceivable violation, including 'standing' by limos in no parking zones. Everybody got a ticket.
Also, once you pass the GW ramp going northbound, and continue, that beautiful section of 'S's' is a notorious speed trap. Some part of it is marked as a 30 or 35 mph zone, or at least it used to be.

your right about those s's, its always been marked at 35 and that is an absurd speed limit on those roads

Going southbound, just before the right turn where the 95-96th St. exit starts.

How can anyone drive in a spirited fashion on that road? It's TERRIBLE.

The hump and the holes in the right lane past the 75th street (i think, its in the 70s) exit are really the only two things you have to watch out for. Oh yeah....also the dumbass drivers all over the place. You can easily hit over 100 on the WSH.

Yeah -- you can easily hit 100 dumba$$es, potholes, out-of-place drain grates, and piles-of-road-material-that-make-no-sense.

The Bonneville Salt Flats for me is Route 380 north from Pocono into Scranton. Now there's a nice straight road with little traffic for such activity.

As someone who has a good friend who is NYPD Highway 1, I can assure you there are plenty of speeding tickets given out on the WSH...:)

    The "hot spots" are:

-- mid-day, heading northbound, in the "twisties" by the cloisters...regularly see a guy there

-- after midnight, the same two guys always work just about the same spot, heading southbound @ 158th st. They sit perpendicular to the road at the on-ramp and shoot laser. Probably see them 2 - 3x a week. They work the 11pm - 7am shift.

-- Southbound, just as you crest the final hill before 57th st, two guys love to sit and shoot laser right at you as you crest the hill. I did all my testing of my Blinder X20 at this spot :)

-- Southbound, just past the GWB, tucked next to the on-ramp for the bridge traffic. Guy likes to either stand there w/ a laser gun and flag you down, or he'll sit in the car and use X-band (!). Yes, I said X-band...because 99% of people ignore those signals on their radar detectors anyway, so they've started using it again. Guess what's old is new....
