First at all, I did give my daughter a long lecture about her speeding. It was partly my fault for giving her a fast car ('09 Civic Si). She was on the way from home for Xmas from school in southern California.

She got a speeding ticket for driving 98mph on 70mph zone (highway 5 in California), I am afraid she might not be allowed to attend traffic school to remove the point from her dmv driving record. Is anything she/I can do to so she can attend traffic school?

    Thanks very much.

Based on personal experience, unless she was being a wiseass when she was getting cited, the speed for which she was ticketed was probably 10-15mph below the speed at which she was clocked.

At least that was the case with a former girlfriend who, when asked by the cop, whether she knew why he stopped her, replied "No, Winchell's is closed?"

She could request traffic school at her court date. Student, going home for the holidays, late at night, whatever. Supposedly you can't go to traffic school for anything over 25 mph but a judge can still grant it.

OP stated 98 in 70 zone WAS the ticket unless im reading it incorrectly. PA laws may be different but id venture that they are similar to CA.
-5ish years ago i was pulled for 91 in 65. Took it to court (PA local police cannot use Radar-VASCAR only- it was on a non lit portion of highway at night) Long story short- the ticket was upheld by the judge ($350ish if i can remember correctly) and mandatory 15 day license suspension. --After a DMV hearing---
Traffic school wasnt an option because of the speed.

After reading thru the CA DMV site she CAN go to traffic school. HOWEVER it will be on top of the fine that she received ($380). Apparently in the past, going to TS in CA would negate the fine and wipe the points off. (could only be used every 18 mo's and TS wasnt/isnt cheap) Now its in addition to. Read through this site i found:

    hope this helps-

If she's reasonably intelligent it will click that speeding is more of a hassle than its worth. You can probably expect one more ticket though, haha just speaking from experience.

Partly YOUR fault???? No, it wasn't.

Edit: Unless she's making her own car payments, paying for the ticket herself, and paying her own insurance premiums, I would take away the car for at least 90 days.
