Hi guys, about 10 years ago I bought a Ferrari wheel just for decoration that was supposed to be a Ferrari 308 GTB/S wheel. Now owning a 308 GTS and since my wheels we're of I tried to fit it on the car and it doesn't fit.. So it's not a 308 wheel?! Which model would it belong to..? It's a 16" Speedline wheel 8J wide. Stamps on the back say SL 079 and a manufacturing date of 10/80. Could it be a 365/400/412 wheel? Good day Jaco, This rim would not be for a 365, as the 365's had knock-off/ centre-lock/ splined rims like used on the Daytona, Boxer, etc. If it is a 16" then it should be for a later 308 QV? Cheers, Sam
Looks like a 308 rear wheel. When you say it doesnt fit, what do you mean exactly ? Note that the 308 uses different bolt lenghts front and back, and attempting to fit the wheel using the wrong bolts may give you the impression it doesnt fit. The common 16" concave 308 wheel will fit all 3xx series except the ABS equipped 328 which need the "convex" wheel -(they look completely different anyway). M
The 308 I own is a 83 QV and it has the original 16" Speedline wheels (SL 053). It does look like a rear wheel but at some points they are different. The rear (inside) of the wheel is completely different and the bolts on the original 308 wheels are more deeper in the wheel. I tried to fit it on the rear but the wheel touches the brake caliper so it doesn't go flat on the brake disc. The wheels on the 400i in this post look a lot like it.. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/140821288-post109.html But are those original for this car?
400's came with 15 x 7.5" wheels 400i had metric (TRX) wheels 412 had metric (TRX) or optional 16" wheels. But the 412 first came out in 1985/86, much later than the date code on your wheel, so I can't see how it would be a 412 wheel. A popular conversion is to use 308 16" wheels ( eg Superformance ) and fit these using a spacer to 400 /412's - thats what's probably in the photo The '87 Testarossa also used a 8 x 16" front wheel, but again, the date code is all wrong.
