Does anyone know if the original pulse sensor on the 348 is made of the same type "brass looking" material that the Ricambi replacement sensor uses? I ask because I have the problem where the speedo and odometer are not working and am planning on ordering and switching out the sesor, but I looked down in there today it looks like the same material pictured in the Ricambi site. I would hate to order it if the previous owner had already tried switching it out and that's not taking care of the problem. Once I get the sensor out, is there a way to tell if is the original or not?

I've checked connection in the speedometer module and didn't see anything wrong and I've looked at the previous owner's maintenacne logs, but don't see anything showing it was replaced.

They look all the same.........cheap stuff so do not worry if it is something wrong somewhere else........which it probaly is not.......

The sensor takes care of the problem.......at least it did on my car....

    Just to verify:

Was the speedo working correctly, and then stopped, or never worked while you owned it?

Have you checked to see if the sensor is unplugged, or has damaged wires?

Have you checked the multi-pin twist connector by the top of the left rear shock?

It worked when I got it, but I DID notice that every once in a while it would hop around by about 20 mph +/-. The other day I was taking a longer drive in the rural roads since it has started getting cooler down here in Dallas and at one point during the drive the needle jumped to about 80 mph and was just sitting there for about 10 minutes. It eventually started moving again but was jumping a lot more than it used to. The next time I got in to drive it, the odometer and speedometer were no longer working.

I've checked the wiring in the speedo module and the connections at the gearbox and near the left rear strut. Nothing looked worn, cracked, etc. in either of the 3 places.

As a side note...I called Boardwalk here in Dallas and the said they could get the sensor overnighted for $219 (including shipping). I checked Ricambi and they have it listed for $252. This was the first time I had seen them more expensive so I called them. They said the price should be $219, but I figured for that same price I could have it tomorrow so went with Boardwalk this time. Never thought the dealer would be the same or cheaper than Ricambi.

Yes. Apparently the prices have gone up quite a bit. In fact, I saw previous posts and read on No Doubt's my348.com site that the Maserati speed/pulse sensor could be used as replacement. However, I checked the price of the Maserati sensor and it is around the same price now...about 178 Euros and I think Boardwalk quoted my something like $300. I can't figure that one out, but apparently someone caught on that it was the same part and decided to charge the same.
