Intermitent speedo problems...sent it off to Palo Alto and of course it works well on their bench. They now want me to send the sending unit so they can see if that's the problem or interface between the two is the villain.
I have located the sending unit near the right rear wheel. Does anyone know if it connects to transmission and if so is it a screw out or held in by a clip.
    Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

After a year and a half my speedometer started to go 20mph over the over then back to the speed I was driving. After about 2 weeks it was solid wrong.
When I backed out the garage at idle it showed 60 mpr in reverse the moring I put it on my lift (FerrariCahtters said it was the sender). I pulled the sender and it did not match sender in my 81 parts. I was ready to buy a new sender
but the correct sender was twice the price) so I cleaned the contacts and reinstalled HAS BEEN SENDING PERFECTLY since. (4 months)

So I would vote it is the sender.

ps I removed the spade clips from the nylon cleaned (contact cleaner),
put them back and then used black electrical tape to seal it from road
    gunk.
