I have a 1998 F355 with speedo problems. Shop had the speedo itself rebuilt 3 months ago and that did not solve. I am told it is the sensor (part #149095). It has been back-ordered since that time and is still not available months later. I have checked all over the world for either a new or used one. No luck. My question is this - is there another sensor that is compatible? Another sensor that would do the job electronics-wise that could possibly be physically altered to thread into the hole? Any other ideas? I'm tired of driving around with my Garmin GPS functioning as the speedo.

Thanks for any suggestions! Also - should anyone happen to have a new or used one laying around, I'm interested in buying.

Maybe not since your part number is the same as there's you probably checked.

Maserati used the same speedo sensor for their Quattroporte IV Evo models. Even the connector is the same.
    Maserati part number is 373630106.
Sadly it won't help that much because it seems to be no longer available from Maserati but it might be easier to get a good used one.
    Good luck.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. Very helpful! I was finally able to locate one through a dealer in Montreal after about 10 hours online once again and trying every avenue I could think of the other day. Should be here in a couple weeks. So I'm crossing my fingers. Have had a couple on order like this over the past few months, but they eventually called & said, "uhhhh can't get it after all". This one seems very legit though.

Mike (mseals) - if this one falls through, I'll definitely be getting in contact with you!

    Thanks again, everyone.

I think mine just have gone out too. Tach works but speedometer is dead. Are these symptoms related. Just happened last night. Any idea on cost?

My [1999 F1 355] sensor was just replaced too, at a cost of £286 for the part. No idea how much labour yet, as the new sensor didn't fix the problem. My speedo works for a while, then stops.

    Still being investigated.

Could having left my car outside in the rain all day have effected the speedo sensor if its located my the gear box? Probably a stupid question but here it is anyways. Bonnet was down by the way

I got word from Canada that mine arrived there and is now on the way to me! Should be here in a couple days. Cost was $310 + shipping. They were advertised in the $200-ish ballpark on various sites, but always back-ordered until "no one knows when". Been playing that game for many months now. So I have no problem with the extra cost to actually have the part. Now I'm just hoping that fixes the problem. Speedo head already rebuilt along with addressing the weak ribbon wiring issues, so surely this should fix it! Will report back with the results.

I ended up not being charged for the new speedo sensor - because it didn't work in my car. It worked in another 355 but not mine!
My problem just worsened too. I drove it back from the dealer and it dropped into neutral in the midst of turning at a traffic light. In heavy traffic.
    Not happy.
Not sure what to do next
