My car is a 95 f355. Also the odometer isnt working. All other gages work. Any clues? Ive read about the sender sometimes going bad. Where is this located and what can I do to check its functionality?
Don't worry about checking it, just replace it. About $115 from Daniel at Ricambi. Every Ferrari I have owned has had these fail, it is a fact of life. Within a couple more engine starts, your suspension malfunction light will illuminate as well. Without a speed indication from the sensor, the suspension ECU will trip the light. Easy swap, and on the off chance that your almost 13 year old car did not need it...well it was some good preventive maintenance that will save you from dealing with it shortly.
is this the yellow light that points to the tires? yep, that went on. looks like ill be calling ricambi
Yes. It is a pretty easy swap out. As I recall, you will need to snip a wire tie, and then unplug the connector. Then you can unscrew the sensor. I used an appropriate sized combination wrench (open on one end and closed on the other) to remove it...I forget the size, but it is pretty big. Route the cable and plug in, then replace the wire tie. That's it. Took all of 8 or 9 minutes. Throw a blanket over the fender when you are working. I have a couple of these: http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=77675 Just use something thicker than a simple bath towel.
