Hey everyone, I know this subject has been touched a bit but, my speedo is stuck at 70 mph on my '76. Is this the sending unit or the guage? The issue just started happening today....

    thanks- john

The problem is the speedo, not the sender.
Sometimes the needle warps a little, then it drags on the background or glass, tapping on the glass usually returns it (unless there are bigger problems with the mechanism).
Palo Alto Speedometer can repair it.

I have been trying to tap the thing back into position, but it does not want to pop back. My odometer is still fully functional which leads me to believe that this is a minor issue. ANy further ideas anyone>?

    Hi John,

    Try this for more info...

If the link doesn't work, search for 308 "Speedo, Odo, Sender fix"

I did this on a '78 308 and it may be similar to yours. The speedo section is separate from the odo section. Being stuck could be caused in several areas internally. They come apart pretty easily. The tough part is getting the bezel off.

    Good Luck,
