Hi guys!....I'm reading you from Italy and I have to say that this forum is really fantastic and full of interesting and helpful info!
i would like to submit to you all a question about a frequent 308 speedometer anomaly. We all know that sometimes happens that our speedometer start to don't work properly going off randomly. About that I would like to understand if there is a way to check if the fault is in the speedo sensor or in the speedometer itself. Reading around I found that someone said to disconnect the sensor, turn on the car in idle and check if the speedometer work properly or not, if yes the problem is in the sensor otherwise is in the speedometer. My perplessity is in how the speedometer can work if the sensor is disconnected!
So first to try this test I would like to know form you if it make sense or no. If yes...may you give me an idea on how the electric diagram is?
Many many thanks and forgive my english!

That test doesn't make sense as the speedometer will definitely not work if the sensor is unplugged.

If your odometer is working, but the speedometer is not working = sensor is OK for sure.

    What year/model/version 308?

Great to hear that that test doesn't make sense...otherwise I had to restudy the basics of electricity.........
I have a 1983 QV GTS and both the odometer and the speedometer randomly shut down.
    Thanksss

If they both shut down then most probably the sensor is going bad. Its very common. Its the same part on many different cars (308/328/Mondi/Testa/355 etc etc)

My 328 is the same at the moment - it will work for about 30-40 miles, then it stops. I need to get under there & change the thing.

I had the same problem as you describe on my 308 Q.V., I changed the sensor and now everything is ok!
If you wish, you can found it at superformance.uk!

Ok great! Any tips on sensor changing? Can we unscrew the sensor without any problem or do we have to be care because will come out oil from the hole after sensor removing?

I wrote it a couple of messages before 308 QV GTS 1983.

Thanks to all...I will try to change it than! But i also would like to remove the instrument panel and check and clean all the contacts....in particolar those of indicator.
