I have an '87 328 GTS. The 'lip' on the speedometer case broke off in pieces and the cover fell off. There is about a quarter circle of this lip still there. This lip is what the speedometer cover slides around to hold on to the speedometer. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix it? Right now, I put the cover back on, but it will not hold on to the speedometer case very well with most of this 'lip' missing. Do I need to have the whole speedometer replaced or can I just get a case? Where? Any suggestions on fixing the existing speedometer case? Thanks for any help. Dennis
That is actually a fairly common problem. Mine fell apart in my hands when I took it apart during interior work. I sent it to these guys http://www.paspeedo.com/ and they fixed it good as new. I don't know if they just have spare cases sitting around or if they have some magic method of repairing the lip, but I couldn't see where it had been broken or how it had been repaired. Great folks to deal with too!!
After talking with the people at Palo Alto Speedometer, my speedometer is on it's way there. Thanks very much for the information.
That's what I love about this place. Ask a question and someone has usually been there before and doesn't mind sharing the info. Glad to have been able to help!!!
