I have an 1984 QV with smaller profile wheels/tires and I've noticed that the speedometer reads about 12-15 miles +/- too fast. Today, it finally dawned on me that my odometer is also racking up more miles than the car is actually driving, thus hurting resale. Isn't there a unit that you can place on the cable to have it accurately read the speed and mileage.

    Thanks in advance.

I sent my 308 speedo to Palo Alto Speedometer for a cleaning and calibration, as it read about 10-12 % slow. It worked great for 6 month's casual driving and then reverted to it's old habits. PAS has done numerous repairs for me and I have always been pleased, this is the only one that did not stick.
Don't know if the above is helpful or not.

Thanks, but I think my problem is more of mis-calibration due to non-OEM wheel/tire sizes. If I get my spedo repair to read accurately, then it will not be accurate.

What is the diameter difference of the tires. Are they close to the stock tires? I do not believe you can adjust the OEM speedo . Unlike some of the aftermarket speedo's I believe this is fixed. You may want to call Pal. Speedo and see if they can. The issue is in revolutions per mile and how the speedo pickup is geared. Let us know how you make out. Sounds like you have a small tire on the new setup.

Yes, I do. I remember years ago, a company was advertising "adapters" to put onto the cables which would cause them to rotate at a different rate thus compensating for changes in tire size. If such a device does not exist now . . . Verell :)

Aren't these all electronic speedos? With a potentiometer inside?
