Stefan, it's both actually, one part is mecanical but is receiving the signals from the cluster node. I would start first by getting a SD2 diagnostic tool on it and ask them to check the errors. There can me many sources of this issue including CAN line issues. Do you have any warning lights? Before it stopped working, anything has been changed? Stef
Stephan- Most of the instrument panel functions are contained in a 2 MB chip in the instrument panel on 360s. Like Stefan said, the SD2 can analyze instrument panel failures. The only repair service I know is FAI in California, if it comes to that, and several European owners have shipped their panels to FAI for repair. They repaired a similar Superamerica instrument panel for me. I had the car mot'ed this morning. The mot man took it for a brake and emission test after the visual inspection then he came back and said that everything was ok. When I got out to the car and started the abs asr warning light was on and after a short drive I noticed that the speedometer did not work and then the transmission light was red. The car has been standing in a garage two weeks before this since it had no registration so perhaps the battery was not up to max and during the visual inspection the lights were on for some time. The previous owner had some battery problems before and he told me that you can get the asb and asr light warning when its low. Could the mot man have broken something when he did the brake test in the test machine? I have just been out to buy a trickle charger to see if that will solve anything.
