It's officially broken in. I've been surprised at how "normal" this car is to drive and live with over the first 8 months. Mechanically, two issues were an improperly adjusted clutch cable at 20 miles, and improperly rebuilt carbs replaced at 500 miles (car ran ok, but idled high and couldn't be adjusted). The shop made a heroic effort to salvage the original Solexes, but they were in bad shape so we found another pair which seem to have done the trick. Chalk it up to post-restoration sorting. Currently the wipers don't work -- need to replace the T1 mechanism (NLA) with a later T2 one. So, no thunderstorm driving in the meantime. Off for oil, chassis lube, valve adjustment, etc., this week before it's out of warranty. I guess cars needed a lot more maintenance back in the day... still, Porsche made a hell of a car even 58 years ago. Apart from 12 volt electricals and radial tires, I'm pretty much running the original configuration. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm so glad to see that this car is being driven and enjoyed. There is nothing worse than seeing these cars sit!
