You're probably right. Does anyone have any suggestions for today's spelling and grammar lesson...? This thread seems to be hopeless in that the evil, erroneous apostrophe is stilling running rampant throughout many posts. Please. Think of the apostrophes.
How about a lesson on how to abbreviate words correctly? I learned the hard way that association is not abbreviated using the first 3 letters.
LOL...!!! It was late. I was tired... Today, boys and girls, we're going to discuss split infinitives - because it's a mistake I make often. Take the following sentence as an example: "This is very helpful and, after going through the list, you have a very good sense of direction on how to properly pronounce many Italian words." What's wrong with this sentence...? "Properly pronounce" should, apparently, be "pronounce properly". Now, being that I still have no sound comprehension of the rules of split infinitives, you're just going to have to take my word on this, since I can't give any more examples or expound any further. Please. Think of the split infinitives.
"Here, here!" abbreviates what, exactly? Are you playing American Football with a few buds and you're wide open? The correct term is, "hear, hear!" It is an abbreviation for "Hear, all ye good people, hear what this brilliant and eloquent speaker has to say!" I feel better now.
