Been looking at a 355 spider and there are wear marks, almost holes on the outer roof fabric....searched and found some previous posts relating to this issue but no real answers.I am in the uk and would need to get this done here if I buy the car.Anyone know where this could be repaired and costs.

    Thanks,

    Colin.

Chaa will probably know and be along shortly

But unless its mechanically particularly good - or cheap - I would guess there are plenty of other 355 spiders around

There are two ways of relay repairing such wear. And the first option is not cheep, the whole roof has to be replaced because just trying to put in a panel will not look right on the smoothness of a 355 hood. The second option is to fabric bond two inch square pieces of hood fabric under the roof material to stop any warter dripping into the car and stop further wear.
But as Greyboxer suggests there are plenty more out there:) But if you do buy this one and the wear are not yet holes then i would do option two to stop the wearing through, unless you want to spend nearly 2K at www.eurospares.co.uk who are UK based.
Depending on were ya are (i am in the midlands) a mate of mine is a trimmer of classic cars, his name is Dave Beswick and he custom makes roofs. Pm me if ya want his number.

Thanks for the replies, the thing is the rest of the car is very good, only done 16k miles but the hood is putting me off.Have seen cars with good hoods but dashes shrunk beyond belief along with bubbled consoles etc.etc .As I am finding out its hard to get the full package!
