I do not need help right now. This is more of a thought experiment for spider owners. My top works okay. Not great. Some people say that the hydraulic fluid will gum up over the twenty years or so. I have read this thread several times.* I have watched Ratarossa’s video on the same topic, 2-3 times. But, it seems there is as good a chance one would mess up your roof, as fix it, disassembling various components etc.

My fluid level is fine. I checked it this past summer.

Here is my idea/question. Mercedes hydraulic fluid for the roof is cheap. $12. There are kits available that allow one to pressure bleed the brake system of cars. You install a cap on your brake fluid reservoir, pressurize, and then bleed from the bleed nipples on each corner of your car. Thereby replacing the fluid.

There are a couple points in the roof hydraulic system where one can bleed the system. Do you guys think there would be some way to pressure bleed the roof hydraulic system? So that one could replace the fluid, without taking the mechanical bits apart?** Or would, for example, valves present in the system prevent that?

*Procedure to cure a 355 Spider roof that does not close properly due to old fluid
**For example, IIRC, there is a bleed nipple on the top of one of one of the secondary rams, and for sure there is a bleed nipple down on the reservoir.
