Split: "SMASHED WINDSHIELD" thread gone awry

I've scanned all the posts to this unfortunate thread. I don't understand how the suspect went from being a 10th grader that your son knows... to being the dangerous guy from a B-movie with a gun and an APB.
I don't get it.
But whomever is responsible, good luck finding them.

Years ago, AMC Eagle's windshield was one of eight cars to be bashed, one night (by two Wyo Tech students in Laramie who were later caught with a pellet gun, after shooting out $10,000 worth of windows on an auto lot).

The cop who "investigated" had the idiotic theory that one lone guy, walking down the street, did it to me and walked off! I knew it had to be a car-- not a motorcycle... too obvious with a bat-- going in the other direction than the cop thought...and it was two guys sharing a laugh... a driver and a guy who opened the door, got out and smashed..hopped in, etc.

And sure enough, the next day's newspaper had eight reports of vandalism to cars. I got out the map in the phone book and crossed off a CIRCLE that showed the route that the punks made from Wyo Tech apartments, south across west Laramie, onto the interstate, exiting at the next exit, doing a couple hits before they got to me, then a couple more on the north side as they returned to their apartments.

My point is that you should ask the police to check for any other car vandalisms-- not play along with the (BS to me) of some dangerous guy from the south who STEALS cars...and what, throws a temper tantrum and bashes a windshield and drives off in the 4 cylinder japcrap car previously described?

Nobody keyed my car today. I was out speeding in thw wilds of Wyoming on almost-empty roads in my GUILTY 550 with the hacksawed plates (which I shared with an on-duty Laramie cop who shrugged it off as BS and is now jazzed for the same ride I gave the chief of police some time ago). Let's just say that here in Laramie we've got a curving on-ramp onto I-80 that's to die for in a 550!
FANTASY--NOT REALITY OF COURSE:
The onramp is perfect at 4,000rpm, 50-60mph in third and then onto the highway at up to 80-90 in fourth...topping out at 100-120 in fifth on the straight...or going a mile and hitting the wide radius, banked curve to the right that's sweet at even 130-140 when there's nobody around and you can work the apex. Otherwise, the passing lane on that corner (around 18 wheelers) is cool at around 120. But there's little margin for error and it's obviously not smart to do if there's ANY traffic ahead of the semi, as he might think you're doing 80 back there, when he changes lanes to pass the car or truck.

Duh, driving is a cooperative experience and breaking the law (which others are following in good faith) is DUMB!
You don't DO certain things around other people! It's not safe! It's not even fun! It's egotistical BS... like smashing people's windshields or keying their car's paint jobs!

 

Totally f*ucked up. I hope whoever did this is going to pay the price, one way or another.

On another note: from the pic, I take it the car is a Spider. Weren't those built from 1994 on?

 

This thread is going nowhere fast. First, the victim says it was some 10th grader. Then the victim says it's some dangerous guy with a gun who speaks with an accent. Oh, so the cops DO know who it is and they're looking for him I guess. How nice.

But when I asked why the change from the 10th grader to the car thief who smashes windshields... the victim says "I don't know what you're &#$&#&# talking about." I guess the victim can't read plain English police reports either; So ignore my suggestion that those reports be reviewed for other vandalism

Masking this suspicious inconsistency on the part of what the "victim" is telling us -- with a bunch of noise-- are the usual ferrarichat macho frat boys, posting "String em up", "Go get em". The fact is, there's more to this story than we're hearing, so I'm no longer interested.

My 550 was keyed last year, right after I brought it to Laramie. So what?
I got it fixed for free--without the insurance company being involved-- and never think about the scratched paint today. And this past week the car's overall safety was threatened when 900 punks at Wyo Tech discovered where it was secretly stored. No problem...before a bullet came through that garage door I just moved it to another secure location... an unoccupied townhouse that I used to rent to a Wyo HP officer at a discount and which I'm about to rent to a Sheriff's Deputy at a discount. These are only cars!

 

Gonna take a guess that you arent a plumber or welder by profession...

The trully hilarious thing is he posted a picture of a cat with a mellon rind on its head which has already been discussed to add some humor to his unfortunate situation. Take a deep breath...

Anyways, back on topic. John Lamour, sorry to hear about the incident. At this point, I have to agree with the other guys. Keep the car and enjoy your life and post up a reward. If these morons were stupid enough to do what they did, they'll be stupid enough to brag about it. Just a matter of time. Good luck.
